"Ain't It Fun"

« on: February 10, 2006, 03:22:07 PM »

Hey,

I just got a ticket (only $15 with charges) to see this GNR Tribute band at BB Kings (42nd street between 7th and 8th avenue) on Friday Nite 3.9.2006. They're supposed to do a pretty good job covering the old GNR.
I was wondering if anybody else is going to this GNR event to meet up with fellow Gunners in NYC

haha I guess we all have different opinions on who the best GNR tribute band is.  Appetite For Destruction out of Raleigh is unbelievable.  They have Mr. Brownstone for DL on their site www.notquitegnr.com if you are interested.

There is a possibility I will be in NJ the night of that show Mark, but I doubt I would go check them out.  You will have to give a review.

I don't know...I've seen AFD (yes, the north east tribute playing at BB Kings) and have to say I was not impressed at all. The music was okay at best, but 'Axl' was not very good. I was looking forward to the show before hand, but ended up leaving after the fifth or sixth song. I told myself that I would give them another chance if they came around again, but I'm certainly not shelling out $15 to do so.

On a related note...if you like Aerosmith and live in the northeastern US, check out Draw the Line! Fn' unbelievable band (see 'em five or six times) and having met Steven Tyler twice before, I can say that Neil (Steven Tyler of the band) looks/sounds so much like the real deal it's scary.

Check 'em out if you get the chance!

The best Gnr tribute band I've seen is called Gunz n' Rozez here in Scotland. The "Axl" won a saturday  night TV show I believe.

Aye he won "Stars in their Eyes" a few years ago and when dance group N'Trance covered Paradise City he did the vocal parts. This is their website: http://www.gnr.homestead.com/gunznrozesmain.html

Guns 2 Roses without a doubt are the best! How many other tribute bands can say they have played with an original member of the band (Steven Adler)? Dizzy agreed to play with them once too, but that never happened for various reasons.

AFD is amazing.  If you're interested in seeing vintage guns-like material then check them out.  I've seen them several times and they are great.  Chad, the singer, has an amazing likeness to Axl.  His voice is great!

I thought they were terrible when I saw them a couple of months ago.  Out of the 40 people that were there to see them, about half had left by the end of the night.

I've seen bad obsession a couple of times (now called UK GUNS N ROSES) and their Axl is the best I've seen.  They are musically spot on, but the band don't really look like the real deal.

Haven't seen Guns 2 Roses, but they are playing near me at some point I think so I might go and check em out - although the whole Adler thing doesn't impress me.  Adler would be impressed with anything if he gets a chance to play some GNR songs.... he was probably convinced it was the original band  rofl

guns 2 roses are pretty cool. When Steven's band left him last year he needed a cover band for UK dates of his tour of Adlers appetite. He originally said he would play with UK Guns and roses for the gigs, but ditched them when Guns 2 roses finally contated him. The shows were good, except for Adam bomb.........

Checked out Australia's Appetite For Destruction last weekend.
Overall, not a bad show. Here is the setlist they played that night.

Nightrain, its so easy, brownstone, live & let die, welcome to the jungle, out ta get me, think about you, yesterdays, used to love her,

civil war, get in the ring, you could be mine, pretty tied up, sweet child, rocket queen, back off bitch, dont cry, my michelle, Anything goes,

patience, your crazy, knockin on heavens door, november rain, paradise city.

Loved the setlist, I asked them to belt out Better but without luck.

I asked the singer after the show if he does alright with the ladies playing Axl Rose and his response was, with a rye grin
