ROSE PETALS!

GUNS N' ROSES have announced they will release a Greatest Hits album this year, not the long awaited new album 'CHINESE DEMOCRACY'.

The greatest hits compilation will not feature any tracks from 'Chinese Democracy', which has been highly anticipated for years. The band last released a studio LP in 1993, the covers album 'The Spaghetti Incident?'.

According to Australian website Undercover, the album is due for release in Australia in April. Release dates for the UK are currently unconfirmed.

The full tracklisting for the album is:

'Welcome To The Jungle'
'Live And Let Die'
'Knockin' On Heaven's Door'
'Sweet Child O' Mine'
'November Rain'
'Patience'
'Paradise City'
'Civil War'
'You Could Be Mine'
'Don't Cry' (original)
'Yesterdays'
'Ain't It Fun'
'Since I Don't Have You'
'Sympathy For The Devil'

Expect Old G'n'R Before New G'n'R

Most Guns 'n' Roses fans have given up hope of ever seeing the 'Chinese Democracy' album. It is now more than five years overdue. However, there is a new Guns 'n' Roses album coming and it is a best of.

Universal Music have confirmed to Undercover News that the album to be titled 'Greatest Hits' by Guns 'n' Roses will be released in Australia on April 11.

Nothing from Chinese Democracy will be on the new record. Even 'Oh My God' from Arnie's 1999 flick 'End of Days' isn't featured but 'Sympathy for the Devil' from Tom Cruise's 'Interview With A Vampire' is.

The tracklisting for Guns 'n' Roses 'Greatest Hits' is:

1. Welcome To The Jungle (from Appetite for Destruction, 1987)
2. Live And Let Die (from Use Your Illusion 1, 1991)
3. Knockin' On Heaven's Door (from Use Your Illusion 2, 1991)
4. Sweet Child Of Mine (from Appetite for Destruction, 1987)
5. November Rain (from Use Your Illusion 1, 1991)
6. Patience (from G 'n' R Lies, 1989)
7. Paradise City (from Appetite for Destruction, 1987)
8. Civil War (from Use Your Illusion 2, 1991)
9. You Could Be Mine (from Use Your Illusion 2, 1991)
10. Don't Cry (original) (from Use Your Illusion 1, 1991)
11. Yesterdays (from Use Your Illusion 2, 1991)
12. Ain't It Fun (from The Spaghetti Incident, 1993)
13. Since I Don't Have You (from The Spaghetti Incident, 1993)
14. Sympathy For The Devil (from soundtrack, Interview With A Vampire, 1995)

Did you sense the sarcasm in that story ? I fear that those of us who felt a GH album would turn Gn'R into a laughing stock were right...

Good to see something eminating from the Guns camp.

I cast a lot of doubt that Slash & co had input in the decision to release it and/or the track listing.

A GN'R Greatest Hits still doesn't sound quite right in my books. Does anyone else agree?

From Dotmusic.com

New G N' R album!
(Monday February 16, 2004 12:21 AM)

Guns N' Roses have shocked the rock'n'roll world by confirming details of a new album.

However, any hopes that the band are about to finally release the tortuously long-awaited "Chinese Democracy" have been thwarted by the news that the record will be a Greatest Hits.

According to reports on Australian music website Undercover, the album will be released there in April. However, there are as yet no official details about a release in the UK or elsewhere.

The album does not feature anything from "Chinese Democracy", which has been in the pipeline for some five years.

Understandably, tracks such as "Welcome To The Jungle" and "Sweet Child Of Mine", plus the band's cover of "Sympathy for the Devil" from Tom Cruise's "Interview With A Vampire" movie, are included.

The full tracklisting is as follows:

Welcome To The Jungle
Live And Let Die
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
Sweet Child Of Mine
November Rain
Patience
Paradise City
Civil War
You Could Be Mine
Don't Cry (original)
Yesterdays
Ain't It Fun
Since I Don't Have You
Sympathy For The Devil

It seems as though Geffen is getting very worried about Chi-Dem and if it will ever be released.  First its live era, It only went gold but took a long time to get there.  then the welcome to the videos and tokyo shows {which aren't as good as the Ritz}.  Now a horrible greatest hits album.  They are trying to recoup money as we speak.  All we have to remember is that Chi-Dem is just an album-not the fucking holy grail so it's best to relax.  Geffen will see that the Greatest hits package will suck sales wise and tighten the noose on Axl to release it.  Not to mention Axl won't make much money off of GH considering Royalties have to be paid to the old group as well as bands like Bob Dylan and the Ventrues b/c 25% of the album are covers.  Its gonna light a fire under Axls ass to at least make a statement on the condition of Chi-Dem.  I think in the end thats all the fans want.  A explanation and a date.
