I'm all for GNR winning on these goofy polls, but to vote for "Live Era" is flat out blasphemous.

That is the worst excuse for a "live" record since Aerosmith's
"Live! Bootleg!" which was recorded in an empty warehouse.

No chance.

GNR have 1028 votes (81%). The next best is ACDC with 116!  nervous

It is a horrible live album though. The production sucked. Tongue

I know the production sucks and it's "not really live" and what not; but the fact is that anything that is gnr brings in a new potential fan.  I myself never bought a GNR album up until Live Era.  I fell in love with every song on there and listened to it night and day.  I know this is a dead horse topic (as is every other post on this site) but I just think that fans need to look at the big picture and that anything GNR released will give the opportunity for a person to get to know the band we all love.  It is only when we become hardcore (somehow classified in our book as visiting Internet sites and getting X amount of posts) fans that we put down other stuff that comes out instead of new material.  My initial reaction to Greatest Hits was one of dissatisfaction but then when I think about how a new fan could experience what I did with Live Era I don't feel too bad.  In the end it's all about the music.  Do I care that Estranged vocals are remastered so it sounds better? No.  If I want the original vocals I'd buy the fucking Tokyo videos or find a bootleg somewhere.  If people are so concerned about hearing an actual live album from GNR, why wouldn't they just download the Argentina bootlegs or numerous others.

Sorry for the Axl Rose-like rant.  Just some thoughts that boiled over the kettle.

Why the hell would I vote for a live album where Paradise City is butchered, and not even complete?

I dont give a shit if it is by my favorite band, there are TONS of better live albums out there.

To name a few:

Ac/Dc-LIVE 2 disc
Led Zeppelin-How the West was Won (Greatest live album EVER)
Pantera-Live 101 Proof

Normally there's no way I'd call Live Era a superior live album, even though they are my favorite band and there are some great tracks on there. It's just too fucked over to work as a great "album". But the list at this site doesn't excite me at all. The only album on there that I've heard is Song Remains the Same and probably one or two tracks from Binge and Purge. Oh, and the live Smoke on the Water from Made in Japan. And since none of those is exactly "classic" either, I voted for Live Era.

I just couldn't do it with AC\DC - Live on the list. Live Era always confused the fuck out of me. I mean I'm sure there is a lot of people out there who would agree with me when I say that there were quite a few GnR live shows (bootlegs) that kicked the living shit out of what Live Era tried to be. Now if it had've been for live DVDs then UYI would have gotten my vote, due to the fact that it was indeed live and wasn't "touched up" to make it sound pretty.

Why not vote for the live album that may actually deserve the honor?  There's no way I could vote for Live Era as "best live album" in good conscience.  The band has numerous bootlegs that blow Live Era out of the fucking water.
