Get yourselves a copy of Dec. 5, 2002, show at MSG.

You won't be disappointed.

You will also stop making unecessary statements that bash the band and Axl's vision of where he is going with GNR.

It is truly an amazing performance and Axl's voice is  ok.

The Boston show is also  ok  If you watch that performance, you will clearly see how the band members all click and it's obvious their relationships are positive.

As far as BH goes......according to my 67 year old mom who is a big Eddie Van Halen fan......she watched MSG with me and thinks Axl can do better as BH's appearance does not fit in with the rest of the band.  I laughed at that (gee.....maybe mom's are right after all  Wink

Seriously though.....if you can get your hands on either of these 2 shows, go for it.  They truly are amazing shows. beer

It's a cool show.  When i first saw it i was really surprised to hear the crowd chanting "Buckethead Go home" during his solo, well through most of the show.  Not cool.  Why pay to see something you don't like...

Your point is a good one, but I'm still of the opinion that a pretty large majority of the population doesn't realize that the lineup has changed.  I work for a major radio company, and it seems like about half the people I work with are unaware of the band changes and haven't heard of VR, either.
I'm waiting ony MSG DVD to arrive, btw...even more excited about it having read this post..thanks!!

If you purchased from Matt off here.......you will NOT be disappointed.

Matt's stuff is awesome.

You will see why Axl Rose is without a doubt.....rock's greatest frontman.  He is all over the stage and he's in excellent shape so you'll see that all those statements about his appearance are untrue.

Axl looks great and is very happy.  And his voice is amazing.

And all the members are really into the songs....even the old stuff.  Like Axl said, "they shoulder it very well" ok

During that tour, they proved only that they couldn't get the job done.

A couple good shows did nothing to prove the doubters or naysayers wrong.  Half the time Axl got up there and bashed the former members.

The Vancouver riot......the Detroit hissy-fit.....and the Philly riot were all so priceless.

Axl didn't travel with his band..........Chickenhead & Finck couldn't stand each other......

Chicken left.........still no cd.

So, what exactly is Axl's vision of where they are going?  Have yet to see it.  I've seen the shows on dvd and other than Axl's performance, it was Chickenhead I enjoyed.  Not one other member impressed me.  And now Coupboy is gone.

Very inspiring  Roll Eyes

It takes a little time to earn the respect back. He didn't put anything into it. The shows that were good were very good.

Then others he didn't even show up to...

You gotta give more than a half effort for people to even care, much less regard you  highly again.

I think Nesquick is bang on. Their appearances and sense of personal style are completely at odds with each other which only creates a sense of bad adhesion within the band to the newer viewer. There is no group dynamic, no common thread through the line up. I cannot see how pretending to be a robot or dressing as a french mime artist while you play 'Sweet Child of Mine' has any positive input to the GNR experience. I think this move towards more abstract and disjointed looks within the band is a very dangerous one for them to adopt. More worringly, they don't seem arsed talking to the fans at all with only adds to my worries that the visual and mental bond between the fans and the band is dangerously severed and possibly to far gone to heal.

GNR were/are so loved  because of their music, its strong emotive feel and raw power. What was such an integral part of their success was the connection the fans felt for GNR. Remember Axls speech about 'getting into a bit of hassle at the Cathouse last night with a man who has a problem....' He spoke passionately about the crock of shit that is the rock star attitude and how he is 'just like one of you and that's all there is to it'. I was 17 when I heard that speech (16 year ago!!) and I fuckin' loved it!!!  Axl became my absolute hero after that. GNR became my stable diet for about ten years. They seemed to be 5 guys on stage, just out of the slums playing to stay alive, playing to get out the anger they felt from the hardship and poverty.... we loved it. Then with success came the multiple minders, the white suits, the fur coats, the dolphins, the exclusion zones etc and I was just left sad.....some of this band had forgotten the old addage: 'never forget where you came from'...

I feel GNR and U2 occupy that zone where their music, although very different, tingles the nerves in the spine and sends your fist into the air. Part of that appeal is the 'realness' of the guys delivering. U2 rediscovered their best form by jacking in all the bullshit and dressing normally and baring their souls on stage whlie driving their songs home; no bullshit samples or pyro gimmics; just a guitar, a bass, drums and a guy singing his ass off. . I think if Axl went back to a more simpler model for GNR with less bells and whistles he's find what defined him as THE front man of the eighties and nineties. 'Avant Garde' is the French for 'bollocks' and theres too much of that type of thing in GNR now. Too many 'artists' and not enough 'musicians' (if you know what I mean). Too many lone traders (including Axl) and not enough band members. Too much silence and no empathy...They just can't sem to resist stacking the cards even higher...

Axl is just ripping on the vocals\ he screams out with a high pitched raspy voice and the choice of clothes is a bullseye Wink

Some of you are fools. In today's world, pretty much anything goes. The look of the band only makes them stand out. Now, I'd be worried if they were all wearing crap like Slipknot or GWAR, but they're not. It's more fun to be out there rockin' as a hyped up characature of themselves, instead of being out there in a plain tee-shirt and jeans. The culmination of everyone's contrasting looks and styles is really what makes this band. They're not just your average garage band with mohawks, piercings, and ripped up shirts. They're *GASP* original and wild. People, especially rock fans, are attracted to that. It goes along with this band's "carnivale" feel.  And yes, the MSG show was SPOT ON.

Exactly. First of all they kick ass no matter what they look like.

Second who cares what they look like.

And third what do you think people said about GnR back in the day? GASP....they talked about how wild they looked and that they were a bunch of freaks.  hihi

So sitting there talking about how they look is retarded. Plus it makes you sound like a parent timed warped from the 80's. hihi

all is very simple: the main problem of the "new" Guns n' Roses is THEIR LOOK.
in fact only 50% of the band looks normal (Dizzy, brain, fortus and stinson), all the other memers (INCLUDE Axl) look absolutely awfull today. That's a problem of credibility. I don't ask them to look like supermodels but I don't know...just normal. Only normal. Is it too hard for them? Axl's new look with LAAARGE XXXXXXXL clothes+ Robin "bloody-gothic- horror" Fink + Pittman who looks like if he was in Village people + Buckethead....oh my god, it gives something absolutely awefull to watch on your computer or on TV. This is really SHOCKING. Believe me, this is THE FIRST THING that people see: the look.  Musically they are very good, exellent, but people don't care that much of them because they are nor attractive. In the music business, the look is 50% of your potential success.

I can't believe that I have read this shit on a GNR board.\\GNR is about freedom, and that includes the clothes you wear.

Some of you are sounding very old, a bit like my parents infact, its very sad.

I think its cool the way all the members have their own style, the old GNR was the same.

I also love the new logo the old one is now very '80's'.

Some of you need to fuck off and go check out the new age section.

Hey insupportof read this. Uve missed the point, it isnt people bashing GNR because they feel like or for fun, there are so many reasons too ones which greatly and i mean greatly outweigh not doing so let me list a few.

1. Axl the hard man of rock n roll dresses like a rap star, and dressing does have A LOT to do with rock, hence kiss, leather pants rock etc etc.

2. Axl sounds a shade of what he used to and dont be blind to it. I went to 2 new gnr shows and sometimes felt sorry for axl when he couldnt do it, didnt have the same stage aura that he had in say the freddie tribute concert he basically owns the stage there.

3. The rest of the band dont live up to the hard rock image GNR set. it was all about the music AND the fact that 5 mates from the hard mean streets made it to worldwide success not that they were hired to play music that others wrote, there is no band unity look at robin n bucket do they ever seem to communicate like izzy n slash used to?>

4. The new music (rock) compared is shit oh my god, rhiad, silkworms, chinese are shocking to me, they dont deserve their place on a GNR album and the new ballads are really good except the solo in maddy is shit ( be honest) and that axl in maddy (take rio) sounds fuckin shit on the ahhh ahhh ah ah bit. played it to my mates who are appetite fans and they laughed, and so was I and I respect Axl as much as anyone here.

5. Bucketheads solos. a total change not only in sound but shredding over everything in a shit diminished scale, example KOHD why the fuck rip over that? thats a bluesy country song if i ever i heard one done justice by slash not bucket.

6. Impatience at album, if it was done and as good as Axl said they would have released it period, or at least updated the website n posted clips, VR are happy to do so why not GNR?

Mate took their first bullet when izzy left then killed off when slash left. They lost everything, the rock n roll hard style, the songs, the style, no one will give them what izzy n slash did. look at it, patience, coma, SCOM riff, slash's solos that people regard as the best things in songs NR, Estranged his MASSIVE stage presence all gone.

This aint GNR, its axl's side project and best of luck to him. Strange how he comes out n plays only 4/5 new songs in a show/headlining festival gig, if they were that great then play them for all to see do it on ur own feet. ok the vocals may not be done in studio just like slither wasnt but they still played it live!!!
