Eric.
I am with you on Cleveland. For some reason they absolutely refuse to come to town. I had to drive to Cincinatti to see them in November. I wish I knew what they had against Cleveland as I would like to see them again but don't want to have to drive 4 hours again to do so.

same on cleveland, i drove to detroit to see them at the state theater, which was amazing, but I don't understand it. Cinci, Cleveland, Columbus and/or Dayton are usually hit by most bands on a national tour...

I went to State Theater as well, not a bad drive, but drove to Totonto-too long of a drive-it's funny, there are several venues here in Cleveland-Convocation center would seem perfect-I know a lot of people who want to see them, but are not die hard enough like me to make a drive out of town, which I understand-I really thought they would swing by here, but I know sometimes they add dates, like they are now overseas-they add dates here and there-we'll see.

Giving arenas a go, huh?
I wish the boys luck but I gotta say it's a bit ambitious and probably a huge mistake...

It's not as though they're jumping to playing stadiums, and these guys do seem to have quite a large following.
I just wish they'd change up their setlist a little, it's good that they've added some songs recently, but they should vary it a little more.

Depends on who they tour with too. If they can get QOTSA on board, then it might be a good idea.

One of the guys in the band, I forget who had said something about a Jet, QTSA type of tour. If that's the case it is definitely a good idea as I think they could get enough fans to make it work. Otherwise, it's going to come off making the band look bad playing to less than half filled arenas.

These are 20,000 seaters they're playing here stateside, not many rock bands these days can fill that size of venue in the US. None outside of nostalgic acts at least...
I have an inherent dislike for arena rock shows in general, just no vibe or intimacy...

I like them around 10,000 max indoors... But outdoors a Great Woods show would kick ass this year.. That would be good for some tailgating...

Who says they have to fill the arenas in order to play there?
Ever seen a concert in an arena where they put the stage in the middle?

No one did.
As to your second question, yes. Although not in years.

VELVET REVOLVER have added several dates to their North American headlining tour, spanning from an Aug. 11 performance in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., through an Aug. 21 stop in Tucson, Ariz. These shows apparently will overlap with the band's previously announced Ozzfest stint, which drummer Matt Sorum had told Launch Radio Networks would begin Aug. 16 in West Valley City, Utah. It is now believed that VELVET REVOLVER will only play the last seven dates of the Ozzfest tour in lieu of IRON MAIDEN, who will drop off the bill on August 20.
Newly confirmed VELVET REVOLVER tour dates:
Aug. 11 - Soaring Eagle Casino - Mt. Pleasant, MI
Aug. 12 - Germain Amp. - Columbus, OH
Aug. 13 - Tweeter Center - Chicago, IL
Aug. 15 - Oneida Bingo Casino - Greenbay, WI
Aug. 19 ? Aladin - Las Vegas, NV
Aug. 21 - Valencia Anselmo Amp. - Tucson, AZ
VELVET REVOLVER as part of Ozzfest 2005:
Aug. 23 - Journal Pavilion - Albuquerque, NM
Aug. 25 - Smirnoff Music Center - Dallas, TX
Aug. 27 - Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion - Woodlands, TX
Aug. 28 - Verizon Wireless Amphitheater - Selma, TX
Aug. 31 - Starwood Amphitheatre - Antioch, TN
Sep. 02 - Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre - Charlotte, NC
Sep. 04 - Sound Advice Amphitheatre - West Palm Beach, FL
