Iam a Huge GNR fan and now alot about the band and the other day my mom asked me why the band was called Velvet Revolver and I didnt know does any one know>?

They said something like they wanted it to show the band is bad ass with revolver, but also has a soft side with velvet. I do remember reading that, but im sure my words arent right.

On the below empty fansite i read that they pulled 3 random words out of a hat and out came Black Velvet Revolver.


They dropped the Black and the rest is history

I think Revolver was Slash's idea, but then he figured there were too many bands called that so Scott came up with the Black Velvet thing. They dropped Black because it sounded too much like STP...

Heck first they were called the project then the rumor was they were going to be called Reloaded (which would make sense) then they came up with a love/anger type of name in Velvet Revolver. They should of just been Guns without Roses.

I think that it was Slash who came up with the name of Revolver becasue he liked the idea of coming around again, and then Scott added the softer side of Velvet. Then they added the two together and there we go.....well i think Huh
