Velvet Revolver taking a shot at Biloxi

Hard Rock Biloxi stayed true to authentic rock and signed Velvet Revolver to perform the first concert Sept. 9 at the $235 million casino resort.

The band is composed of three former members of Guns N' Roses: Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum; former Stone Temple Pilots front man Scott Weiland; and guitarist Dave Kushner, who has played with a series of well-known bands. Their first release, "Contraband," debuted at the top of the Billboard charts, sold over 3 million copies worldwide and earned a Grammy.

Tickets for the concert, which cost $125, go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at ticketmaster.com.

"The band was chosen as the first band to play Biloxi for its popularity and authentic, true rock 'n' roll roots," said Joe Billhimer, president of Hard Rock Biloxi. "We know from our market research that there are high entertainment expectations from locals and we think they will love our choice of Velvet Revolver and other upcoming entertainment."
