I've been watching MLB for close to 30 years and Barry Bonds is probably the best everyday player I have ever seen.
I haven't met him so I cant judge him as a person.

The best players in my lifetime:

C - Mike Piazza
1b- Keith Hernandez
2b- Joe Morgan
ss- Ozzie Smith
3b - Mike Schmidt
of - Barry Bonds
of - Rickey Henderson
of - Reggie Jackson
sp- Tom Seaver
cp - Dennis Eckersley

I could tolerate it back when my Mets sucked, but when they were good from 98-00, the Braves drove me up the frigging wall. The baseball fan in me respects what the Braves have done over 15 years. The New Yorker in me wants something to happen to their team bus on the way from the airport Wink

I forgot that they were getting a new stadium actually, I'm down in Florida and new stadiums are a bad subject here. rofl

I did see a picture of the new stadium and I think they said by 2008 or 2009 it will be open. I'm probably off though on the dates.

Ouch.  The future of baseball in Florida is in bad shape.  The Marlins are lookin' to move and the Rays, well, the Rays are the Rays.  The new Shea Stadium looks like a knock-off of Ebbets Field.

Really mine too!

Let the battle commence, who will be victorious in the east this year?

The mighty yankees?
The destructive red sox?
Or the rejuvenated blue jays?

Just got in from the WBC Finals. Having witnessed international play and the fans that come with it has really rejuvinated my love of this game. The atmosphere of all three games at Petco Park was absolutely electric. From the party atmosphere of the Dominican Republic - Cuba game to the non stop chanting and banging from the Korean fans against Japan, it was an environment you dont normally witness at a MLB game.

I have to give a particularly special bravo to the Korean fans. They were deafening all night. A 6 run defecit didnt quite them. A 30 minute rain delay didnt quiet them. Losing the game didnt quiet them as the streets of the Gaslamp Quarter were filled with there chants after the game. And all of it was in good sport. No fights amongst the fans at any game.

I wasnt too sure about these games at first, but after the last 3 days, I am a believer. I only hope in 2009 there arent so many players backing out.

It sucks that we lost!  Baseball is OUR sport, WE created the WBC.  This reminds me of the '04 Olympics when our basketball team lost.
