they've been back since 3-22-05 and been tearing it up ever since..with a classic lineup!!!

here is the press release that came out a while ago:

Black Crowes Expand Tour, Reveal Lineup

As expected, the Black Crowes reunion has grown into a full-blown tour, and the band has finally unveiled details of the musicians who will back founding sibling duo Chris and Rich Robinson at the band's first gigs since October 2001.

Guitarist Marc Ford is back in the fold for the first time since 1997, while Bill Dobrow, who played with Rich Robinson in the short-lived band Hookah Brown, will take over for Steve Gorman on drums.

Bassist Sven Pipien returns for the first time since his less-than-amicable departure in 2000, while longtime keyboardist Eddie Hawyrsch will round out the group.

Beyond the Crowes' previously announced seven-show run at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom later this month, plus appearances at Bonnaroo and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, more than 20 new dates have been confirmed through mid-June.

Additional shows are expected to be added, as is another touring leg later this summer.

March 22-23, 25-27, 29-30: New York (Hammerstein Ballroom)
April 21: Houston (Verizon Wireless Theatre)
April 22: New Orleans (Jazz Fest)
April 23: Gulfport, Miss. (Grand Casino)
April 25: Myrtle Beach, S.C. (House of Blues)
April 26: Charleston, S.C. (the Plex)
April 27: Raleigh, N.C. (Disco Rodeo)
April 29: Knoxville, Tenn. (Civic Auditorium)
April 30: Asheville, N.C. (Thomas Wolfe Auditorium)
May 1: Memphis (Beale Street Music Festival)
May 5-7: Atlanta (Tabernacle)
May 10-11: Boston (Orpheum Theatre)
May 13-14: Hampton Beach, N.H. (Hampton Beach Casino)

I just purchased two used Black Crowes cds marked with an original issue sticker. The titles are Shake Your Money Maker and Amorica(black backround). Anyone have an idea if these are worth anything or will be worth anything in the future? Also does anyone know how someone could tell if its an original issue or not?

Thanks,

i think the original issue of Amorica was in a carboard type cover.  you'd have to go by catalog numbers to see though for sure.
i dont think they are really worth a lot though, personally.

p.s. i hope you also got southern harmony.

p.p.s. if you want to find out a ton more Crowes info check out my site:

Amorica had the Hustler photo as it's original cover, then was pulled from some places like K-Mart and a new cover issued after. I suppose the CD could be an original, but the artwork isn't, so I'd assume it's worth nothing.

Crowes Emerge From 'Fog' On Live DVD

The live footage shot by the Black Crowes during a multiple-night August 2005 stand at San Francisco's Fillmore Auditorium will finally see the light of day this spring. Due March 21 via Eagle Vision, the DVD "Freak 'N' Roll ... Into the Fog" rounds up 19 tracks from those shows, four of which were previously released in their entirety by Instant Live.

Songs are drawn from all the Crowes' six studio releases, from hits like "Remedy," "Hard To Handle," "She Talks to Angels" and "Sting Me" to more obscure fare like "Let Me Share the Ride," "Sunday Night Buttermilk Waltz" and opener "(Only) Halfway to Everywhere." The show ends with a cover of the Band's "The Night They Drove Ol' Dixie Down."

The Crowes have been off the road since their New Year's Eve show at New York's Madison Square Garden, but will return to live duty Jan. 29 in Orlando, Fla. The group will then pause until a March 12 appearance at the Langerado Music Festival in Sunrise, Fla., ahead of a five-date swing through London (March 18-19) and Amsterdam (March 22-24).

Here is the track list for "Freak 'N' Roll ... Into the Fog":

"(Only) Halfway to Everywhere"
"Sting Me"
"No Speak No Slave"
"Soul Singing"
"Welcome to the Goodtimes"
"Jealous Again"
"Space Captain"
"My Morning Song"
"Sunday Night Buttermilk Waltz"
"Cursed Diamond"
"She Talks to Angels"
"Wiser Time"
"Non Fiction"
"Seeing Things"
"Hard To Handle"
"Let Me Share the Ride"
"Mellow Down Easy"
"Remedy"
"The Night They Drove Ol' Dixie Down"

Great!

My favorite songs are there, Wiser time, Curse Diamond, Remedy...I will be buying this thing when it comes out.

I didn't know they played MSG on New Years. What's the current status of the band? Do they have any intentions of recording again?

I know they have been working on new songs. Supposedly they will be going into the studio sometime later this year, but nothing concrete on that yet....

They should release a DVD of their late 1990/eary 91 performance on MTV Unplugged. It was one of the best performances from that series.

Nice, have always liked TBC & have been to several of their concerts. Things got pretty stale for them in the late 90's, hopefully they can produce something inspired once again. I always thought they were somewhat held back by not having a monster lead guitar player, cause they certainly had everything else!

Yes, i do also hope they release some older video/performances on dvd but this show is pretty sweet!

and btw, they do have a Monster Guitar player, his name is Marc Ford.  you can hear him ripping up solos on several albums (esp. the 2nd one, Southern Harmony) and all over the last tour!!
he's not in your face like many hard rock guys but this dude can PLAY!

Oh yeah, i definitely know all about Marc Ford & SH&MC is a classic album & TBC best IMO. Maybe it because the brothers controlled things or whatever, but after Amorica, I thought they kind of sucked. It seems like they almost regressed in a way & they never put out that Freebird, end of show type song where the guitars take over & bring it home. But whatever, I still luv'm.

yeah i kinda agree with you there. they had a Ton of problems in the band including heavy drug usage, ego conflicts and so on.. luckily they were able to get past that, do some solo stuff in between and reunite, even if it was to make some more money as part of the deal.

Around And Around (1st time played)

The Black Crowes played for an hour and a half, what passes for a full show for most bands now-adays, but they werent done yet. After a fifteen minute break, they came out for another hour and a half. Picking which set was better is like picking which of your kids you like better, cant be done.

Chris was in great voice all night, and put on an extremely energetic show. The man doesn't stop moving/dancing. He even remained on stage for all the extended jam sessions (and there were quite a few) just dancing around and urging the crowd on. Marc Ford was a revelation and easily the star of the night. The person who mentioned before that they dont have a "monster lead guitar player" needs to check them out now.

The only thing that was missing was no piano/keyboard player. Alot of the die-hards that were in the audience seemed bothered by it, but also had to admit that it didnt take that much from the show by the end of the evening. If nothing else it probably brought alittle bit more out of Marc Ford's guitar playing inorder to fill some spots where there would normally be a piano or keyboard playing.

A great night. I cant wait to get this DVD and to see them again in March.

I guess I said that becuase I only attended shows in the later 90's & they always had some white afro guy who seemed to play second fiddle to Rich.  The shows were still great (how could they not be), but I don't think Marc Ford was playing with them then? Maybe he was, cause i was always pretty stoned.

Also, what happened to eddie harsch? Wasn't he way older than the rest of the band?

I'm not too good with the Black Crowes history, but you are correct, Marc Ford wasnt with the band then. From what some people at the show were saying, it appears Eddie is no longer with the band.

i was reading up about this, and Eddie the keyboardist wasn't at the show for some reason that isn't known at this point. I'm thinking it was a personal thing or family emergency, hopefully nothing serious happened!

as for Marc Ford - he was in the band from 92-97 and was kicked out due to drug problems.  From 98-01 Audley Freed replaced him and then they went on hiatus until March 2005 when they reunited with Ford, which I honestly thought would never happen so i was and am still really excited!!!
one of the coolest things i've ever seen was at 2 nights in a row last year, they played the shows and didn't repeat a single song!!!

Thanks for the history lesson ok

I just knew Marc Ford wasn't the guitarist when I saw them open for Aerosmith in 90.
I was really impressed that they only played about 3 songs that were big radio hits. Most of the time after each song, they would huddle up and discuss what they wanted to play next. This show had the feel of an unscripted jam session.
