i was there too and can attest to what everyone said. but i was in the VIP prick section where people (chris rock included) were too cool to be getting into it that way the rest of the crowd was.  Roll Eyes but... from my vantage point and experience, i have NEVER experienced energy like that. the place was going to explode. it took me, literally, hours to come down from the adrenalin. and yeah, that intense snowstorm made it all surreal. it was a BAD storm and people were getting off work early just to be able to get home. none us thought axl was going to show, although we already knew he was in NYC (my friend ran into him on the CNN set).

by reading your reviews, it seems it was a fantastic show, probably one of the best GN'R show ever (including the old band). I also know a guy who lives in NYC for his job and who told me he was totally blown away that night.

I love how everyone says axl wouldn't go on because he was watching the lakers game, which happened to be the biggest comeback in team history. Problem is, the riot started an hour before the laker game even started, so there is no way he could of been too caught up in the game.

i think the two most logical explanations for the cancellation:
1. clear channel cancelled the tour due to (relatively) poor ticket sales... please keep your fucking crying to yourself. yes, they sold out MSG and some others, but NO, they didn't sell out everywhere. please don't argue with this theory, it is a possibility
2. axl, who has admitted to never being too thrilled about touring, realized that they had done what they set out to  (sell out NYC and give an absolute all out fucking awesome performance) and didn't need to prove anymore.
