The Cult's always been a band that incorporated rhythm/groove/backbeat, that's one of the
characteristics that distinguished them from the goth scene and allowed them to move away from
being pidgeonholed in that genre.

How the fuck can anyone in their right mind call The Cult  fuckin' "alternative"

When they came out in the 80's they were lumped into that group. Alternative now, isn't anything close to what was considered alternative then.

This should put your mind to rest, here's a clip from Nov, 13 of last year at Irving Plaza in New York City.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip1kkqoj6Zw

Ian's fit as a fiddle and sounding strong and Billy is bringing it like only he can.

Enjoy.

Peace Dog!!!!

One of my favorites ever......

Yep, that is indeed the word.

The single "Dirty Little Rockstar" is being sent to radio 7/15, expect it to hit the airwaves before the Aug 13 original release date.

? In the 80's there was no such thing as "Alternative" . If anything they were sort of a crossover between the real "punks" and the group that liked Billy Idol.

? ?I saw them open up for Billy Idol in Toronto in May 87 on their Electric Tour (their 3rd Album). They were awsome, Smashed the drumset like Keith Moon at his best. They put on a wicked show and were one of the best opening acts I have ever seen.

They played Born to be Wild (now there is a real "alt" song) . I swear to god you can be damn sure that night the word alternative was never used...remember this was 4 full years before Nevermind.

? All this bullshit was invented way after when even the Fuckin' Ramones were considered Alternative...fuck that.? ?

The "alt " tag for them has more to do with the scene they emerged from, (post punk/goth) than what they really were/are.?

Ian and Billy have always refered to themselves as an "outsider" band which is a much better description, it's allowed them to be more chameleon-like and avoid being lumped into any one specific genre.  Always kinda helped keep the "cool" factor at a high level so to speak.

Fuckin' nasty. Grin

thanks a million.  The line 'you're passed out on the bathroom floor' had me laughing.

I wonder if Sorum could arrange for a VR/Cult tour, that would kill.

Even with the obvious tie ins, I'm not sure that would ever happen.

At this stage in all involved's careers, I don't think either camp would want to play an "opening"
role for either.
