The guy must be good, because even with a horrible and unlistenable voice he managed to be on the bizz!

who the fuck cares about being a good singer when you do things in a way that works like fuck?
most of my fav singers aren't really good singers technically.
if you're into that kinda stuff, listen to opera and Steve Vai.
Im not a much of a fan of Dylan, but I get why many people are, and I LIKE his voice! not many people who aren't really fans of him can say that Grin

It's all been said, but I'll throw in my 2 cents.... Dylan was a great songwriter but he was/is the world's worst singer, and he's hugely overrated for that.  Basically anybody can perform a Bob Dylan song better than Bob Dylan.  A great example is "Knockin on Heaven's Door" by a certain favorite band of ours....

I like Dylan's voice on "Knockin' On Heaven's Door". He has a desperation or hopelessness in his voice that matches the tone of the song. GNR's cover of it is great also.

He definitely has a unique voice, which I think is the beauty of his appeal. 'I Want You' is one of my favorites.

I decided not to check out that new song, I want to listen to the whole album in its entirety when it comes out and everything is new. Should be another masterpiece from the man himself.

Is Bob Dylan overrated?

It is a heresy to say that, and one will lose all credibility among most music fans if one holds that opinion.

Personally though, I just don't see what the big deal is. I like his music and think he's a great songwriter, but that said, I've never really been that much into his music. While I like albums like Highway 61 Revisited etc., I could never really embrace a Dylan album and fall in love with it. His music just doesn't do a whole lot for me.

Anyone else feel the same way?

The thing is that he is important, he wrote some of the greatest lyrics ever in the right place and right time.

His songs expressed what thousands of people were thinking, what thousands of people were trying to say.

Musically (instrumentally), most of his songs are boring and not great, but that's not what he's about. Although a song like Hurricane is amazing.

His voice was unusual and some of you may find it annoying but that was just another thing about him that would  make him even more interesting, it was his charm.

"Together Through Life" drops on Monday. Do you guys think it will be at least as good as or even better than "Modern Times"? Personally I think it will be even better, the man has been on an unstoppable roll in recent years, with each album being better than the last...

I just finished listening to the whole album, and I can honestly say that I haven't been left with such an overwhelmingly happy and positive feeling after listening to an album in a long, long time.  Smiley I was so pleasantly surprised, because I wasn't sure whether or not to expect another masterpiece since he has already had three in a row, but this album is possibly the best of all the recent ones. Every song has an incredible, unique feel, and I can honestly say I love every single song, which is more than I can say for the other albums. Most of the songs are creative, up-tempo love songs and the slower ones work just as well. I love this album from the first listen, and I look forward to getting to know it even better. I'm all smiles after hearing this album. Good ol' Bob still got it! Smiley

So, rumor has it good ol' Bob is releasing a Christmas album this holiday season. The man has an extensive history of doing the exact opposite of what people expect or want him to do, and that's why I love him so much Grin I think this should be interesting, to say the least! Thoughts?

Hilarious and absurd story about how good ol' Bob recently got arrested by a young police officer who thought he was a homeless person pretending to be Bob Dylan, after some people called the cops on him for thinking he was a homeless person when he was checking out a house for sale in the pouring rain Grin MUST READ!

Sorry to bring up the old topic of "Together Through Life" from back in April, but I bought it when it came out and kind of shrugged it off.  Recently not sure if I've been in a holiday funk or what, but I was listening to Bob's Christmas album and then this came on my ipod and it really really like fit the mood I've been in.  I totally have fallen in love with Together and I think it is definitely an amazing album.  Way to go Boberto!  Definitely you guys should give this one another listen if you didn't love it at first!
