Mustaine sounds off

WEEKENDER: Are there plans to bring any Big Four shows to the U.S.?

MUSTAINE: No. That?s up to people that organize this. But I think that?s going to require a lot of stuff to take place with some other people. If it happens, and it?s good for us, like the thing happened with the Big Four overseas so far, great. Ya know, we?re on a really good run right now, and inasmuch as the Big Four thing is super-successful, if it?s successful it?ll be great for all of us. The same can be said right now for the ?Rust In Peace? tour ? it?s successful, and it?s great for us. I take the same kind of commitment to this performance as I would to the performances this summer.

WEEKENDER: What?s your relationship like with the other Big Four bands these days? In the past, it?s been contentious.

MUSTAINE: I think it?s obvious, because we?re doing the shows. Are you sure you want that to be your last question?

WEEKENDER: I?ll ask about Dave Ellefson if you let me.

MUSTAINE: Well, that was your last question. But I?m going to give you another shot at it because that was not really a great question to part on.

WEEKENDER: OK. How did Dave Ellefson go from suing you for $18.5 million to you inviting him back into Megadeth?

MUSTAINE: Well, I can?t speak for him, but all I can say is that the opportunity presented itself, and I prayed about it, and I asked him if he wanted to come play, and he said ?Yeah,? and we worked it out.

Obviously, there were some things we had to work out because we had a very close relationship. When you?re really close to somebody and then the relationship takes a pause or even stops, there?s usually some hurt feelings, and we had to clear some of that stuff up. Now it?s just a matter of just catching up for all the good times we had.

Every time we were looking to conquer the music industry and get on top, every time we got there something happened. It was just crazy. But right now everything is firing on all cylinders, and it looks like this is going to be our year.

MEGADETH Ends Baltimore Show After Three Songs, Blames 'Piece-Of-S**t' P.A. - Mar. 17, 2010

MEGADETH was forced to leave the stage three songs into its headlining set last night (Tuesday, March 16) at Rams Head Live in Baltimore, Maryland after the venue P.A. (the "Public Address" system that amplifies sound so more people can hear it) allegedly "took a shit" and prevented the band from continuing its performance.

What follows below is a BLABBERMOUTH.NET transcript of the TheLiveLine "audioblog" MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine left late last night decribing the circumstances that led the band to cut its set short.

"I'm calling right now from Baltimore. It's approximately 10 minutes to midnight, and unfortunately, our show turned into an absolute disaster tonight," Mustaine can be heard saying.

"We had problems with the P.A. from the beginning of the night.

"I went out on stage and I had said that the P.A. was a bit inferior to what we were used to using [see video below ? Ed.], and after the P.A. completely took a shit, we went into the dressing room, waited another half hour to 45 minutes, used the house P.A. and went back out and started playing again. And some delirious asshole decided that it was a good idea to throw their beverage over the [mixing] console, thus ending the concert.

"So, to the good people of Baltimore, I'm sorry for us having to end your night early tonight, but I can tell you honestly right now that we will be back. It's not like we have better things to do tonight than perform for you. We love you, and we're very sorry about this situation. And hopefully next time we'll be able to play in like a gas station with a couple of generators and a P.A. that'll work. ['Cause] that piece of shit we played in tonight didnt."

You can hear Mustaine's entire one-minute message using the audio player below.

^^Megadeth show rescheduled for tonight due to technical difficulties

Details are still murky at this point, but some kind of serious technical difficulty forced thrash metal gods Megadeth to scrap last night's sold-out show at Rams Head Live.

The band had to stop playing after a few songs, leaving more than a thousand concertgoers more than a little unhappy.

All is not lost, though -- Megadeth has booked a makeup gig tonight for all the folks who had tickets to last night's ill-fated show ...

"They're going to do a show tonight for the people who bought tickets last night, and do it for free, which is cool," said Mark Mangold, who handles booking for the Power Plant Live club.

Mark promised to update us tomorrow when he finds out exactly what went wrong at yesterday's show. Meanwhile, if you had tickets to last night's show, you can still see the band tonight.

From Houston March 25th:

Aftermath: Megadeth And Testament Power-Metal Through Irritating Fans

At one point a kid jumped onstage triumphantly from the pit - this pissed off Mustaine something awful, but didn't seem to rile bassist Dave Ellefson who was next to the teen. Mustaine ended up going on a diatribe relating the experience back to Dimebag Darrell's murder in 2004, which we can see the parallels to but fail to see how you can live your stage life in constant fear of death, especially with songs like "Headcrusher" and "Symphony of Destruction" following your vitriol.

^^More on this:

MEGADETH Frontman Vs. Stagedivers In Houston; Video Available - Mar. 28, 2010

Two kids reportedly jumped up on stage during MEGADETH's March 25, 2010 performance at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston, Texas, in the process infuriating the band's frontman Dave Mustaine, who proceeded to give them a tongue lashing. Mustaine ended up going on a diatribe relating the experience back to "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott's (PANTERA) murder in 2004.

"I really don't say a lot from the stage, but those two little fucking assholes that just came up here on stage... We lost a very dear friend of all of ours in the state of Texas, we lost Darrell because some fucking piece of shit came up on the stage behind him and shot him," Mustaine said. "You know what I'm talking about, right?" He continued, "Listen, if you're gonna come up on the stage tonight, just know you're fair game. And if you're gonna stay out there, you're my friends, and if someone comes up on the stage and tries to fuck with me, I want you to help me. We'll take him outside and we'll give him a good old-fashioned Texas fucking beatin' . . . One thing is for sure ? those little fuckers got thrown out before I could get hold of them." He then said, "This next song ['Head Crusher'] I'm gonna dedicate to them, or the death of them, actually."

After noticing a kid in the crowd who was giving Mustaine the "middle-finger" salute during the "Head Crusher" introduction, the MEGADETH frontman stated, "Oh, you're flipping me off. Oh, you big bad-ass. Oh, you're so tough, aren't you? Look at you, aren't you a cocksucker. Yeah. You're flipping me off." He continued, "Hey, I wonder what his mother is doing, but I don't think sucking dick is really important." He added, "This is what happens when your cousins fuck you, you stupid fuck. You don't even have hair on your pussy. Put your fingers up in the air and stuff them up your ass, OK, you cunt? This is definitely dedicated to you. You are not a Texan, you pussy. You're not a Texan. You weren't even born in this fucking country, you pussy."

Two separate fan-filmed video clips containing footage of the above-mentioned incident can be viewed below.

i know, its so cool having a band do an old school approach to a music video, not just a live performance with some crap spliced in.  very cool
