We have a "Last Film You Saw' Thread HOWEVER for the really big movies we usually are allowed to start a thread dedicated solely to it.
I believe this movie will be the biggest blockbuster of the year hands down.
The trailers I have saw have been incredible and Johnny Depp is the greatest actor alive today.
This comes out Friday July 7th *hopefully Ill be able to catch a midnight showing somewhere*
So its simple, see it, discuss it, review it u get the idea!
I know ill end up seeing this at least 5 times.

Saw some hilarious dialogue from the trailers. Elizabeth *knightley* says to Jack "there will come a moment where you have the chance to do the right thing: Jack retorts:' "I love those moments................. I like to wave at them as they pass by"

The Empire review went up this morning, they gave it three stars.
"Too long, and too wrapped up in its various plot contrivances to notice it?s veering off course. But Jack just about pulls the wheel back, aided by Verbinski?s flair for cartoonish comedy action."

the first one was one of the best and worst movies ever. johhny depp made it brilliant, the naff, tacked-on on love story was horrible. some of the worst acting i've ever, ever seen. orlando bloom should be shot.

It;s becomeing more common to do it that way. They already had about 25% of 3 done by the time 2 was finished fimling. Richards starts filming in september I believe. We part 3 coming out the last friday of may 2007.

Yeah it is getting more common, and I have a hunch that Spider-man 3 and 4 are being filmed at the same time. So the third will be ending on a cliffhanger. It would explain the huge budget.

^ that would be the logical reason .But It really is just Sam going way over budget.Which he also did on Spidey 2. And the facted it is just a huge film . Look at the new Supermna that thing went way over budget . which may kill the chances of a sequel.
The next films that may be filmed that way .Will probable be Batman Begins 2 & 3.

Didn't Superman's budget also include the money spent on failed attempts since the early 90's? I have heard it did. Not sure though.

I'm almost possitive it wasn't. counting the faild attemps from the 90.s till now.The whole thing has cost waner around 500 million to get this new superman out.260 for the budget of the new one and 100 +for the marketing .Then the rest is all from the faild attempts Anyway I can't wait for POTC 2 . The three way swordfight within a spinning mill wheelis supposed to be astonishing.

Well Burton got 10 million when he was going to direct it and Cage also got 20/25 million .Plus all the writers who had writen scripts for it over the years got paid . Their were costums made for the Burton flick along with with sets that were built. Waner also lost 100 million ,that was to go toward the production .do to it never getting off the ground. Anyway I got my mindnight tickets for potc2 today . Caint wait till friday mourning .

I think they bribed someone to get the rating they got. In any event! I'm bringing my 6 yr old daughter tomorrow! I absolutely LOVED the movie and will get it the moment it comes out on DVD. And will go see the next one the moment it comes out. I also got a new quote for my sig Gonna have to verify the veracity of what he ACTUALLY said tomorrow though....

the ending majorly sucked.
and johnny depp didnt do the accent right this time, not as classic.
and some pathetically silly over the top scenes.
like the wooden thing going over him and not crushing him.

Or at least, it could. To say that a film is too long doesn't always directly refer to just it's length; often it can mean how long it takes to tell a story. Maybe the story for the second film could have been wrapped up in an hour and a half, while the first one fit comfortably into... However long it was. That said, maybe the original poster's just an idiot.

Didn't you get it? That was the gimmick of the movie! A buried story! Clever, huh?

The movie was good but there was not enough Captain Jack! I can't wait for the next one though! These 3 films are exciting as the STAR WARS trilogies.

PIrates shattered the one day mark set by Star Wars Episode III.
POTC2 pulled in an estimated 55 million in the first day beat Star Wars 50 million mark.
It is also suppose to crush Spiderman 2's opening weekend.
Part 2 was good, Im not sure if it was better than part 1 or not.
I do like the expanded roles of the one eye guy and his buddy.
Seems Depp had some more memorable lines in the first one.
Overall I cant complain though, It was the best movie ive watched this year and Ill be going to see it again just to catch on to some things I may have missed the first time watching.
Considering there is a part III, its safe to say that Jack isnt dead which kind of fucks the cliffhanger.
One more thing...........
SPOILER....................
how the fuck is Barbosa back?

Went to see this with my son and hubby the other night. I thought it was brilliant. I know Johnny Depp went way over the top but I thought he was fantastic and so sexy I would NOT say no to that man..!! I think I was actually drooling at one point. The film was good too, I loved the stunt sequences really well done. Orlando Bloom looked pretty good too, best I've seen him look since Legolas.

Great film, a lot of story threads were pretty well juggled throughout. And at the end of it you know you just have to see the next one. PS - stay around after the credits lol.

I thought it was really good but maybe not quite as good as the first; I thought Depp did a great job as well as Bloom and knightley, good she's hot. i can see why people were a bit down on her charachter but i think she did what she did because it was necessary...... definitely wasn't expecting the twists at the end

I might be seeing this tomarrow, can't wait. I still haven't seen it yet but I will soon. Anyway, is it just me or would Johnny Depp be great for a Freddie Mercury biopic?I don't know, after watching his movies I think he kind of looks like him and all the different roles he played, I think he could act like him. And plus, Depp is into music himself like Rock n' Roll and stuff.

Very True, Depp got into acting as a side job to pay his bills so he could pursue his real dream of being a rockstar. He got close actually but it just didnt happen.
He is a pretty damn good guitar player.

Next thing we'll hear is that he's joined Axl as the fourth (occasionally fifth when Izzy joins them onstage) guitarist in the line-up! Actually in all seriousness I would like to hear what his guitaring is like... isn't his band called P or something? *ponders*

Axl and Johnn Depp together... I don't know if I could handle that.... it'd be too amazing... I think I would explode. heheh, anyway... I thought it was a good film. A little heavy on the action, I think. Not that that's a bad thing, but I would've liked to have seen more of the characters' witty banter I think the third one will make people appreciate the second one even more. I can't wait!!

finally saw it great movie unfortunally i didnt stay after the credits what happens?? Are you sure you want the surprise wasted? S P O I L E R !Remember the dog those natives chase away on the island before Jack and the others escape in the ship? You probably thought they killed him, right? Well after the credits, they show the natives praising someone as their new leader like they did to Jack Sparrow before, the dog was sitting in the throne with a crown on his head. I finally saw it too, I liked this one even a lot better than the first. I loved Jack Sparrow's entrance in the movie.
