On there website you can get all 9 europe shows. Why are GNR not doing this?Huh? Pearl Jam did something recently and I think its a great idea. I want to be able to download the mp3 and video if required of every gnr gig. I want to be able to watch it all live on the net if required and would be happy to pay to do so. If I was Axl I would have the biggest and best website on the net and embrace these new ideas. Just my little rant as much as I like Metallica I would prefer GNR to be doing this!!!

It would make too much sense for Guns to do that.... They should have an excellent functioning website.
It is pretty sad fans have to go out of there way to see footage or hear recent stuff. I get kind of tired of cell phone vids when it is obvious most, if not all shows, are being recorded.
I can only say I think it is a mistake Axl and the boys don't do things like that.

not only should they have a functional website that could be great but axl could be pushing cd as well as a single while touring each country too.. There's many things that could be done to benefit the fans and himself..

Someone should let Axl know he actually has a website. If gnronline was hacked all the hackers would find is dust bunny's.

But remember, we got all the boots in 2002 free. I liked that.

They already gave us the "leaks"... that's much more then I would have expected some years ago. Maybe they'll offer some live downloads during their next tour in 2010.

I'm sure they have several reasons for not offering live recordings from this tour.

I guess it requires a lot of extra work to put it together.

Well the one positive thing you can take out of the whole situation is that you can never call Axl out for gouging his fans.  Over the last 15 years, Axl could have pulled a Bon Jovi and released his old material 8000 different ways knowing that the die hards would buy it.  Granted I would have loved all of that drool.  I guess my point is, Axl obviously is happy with making or having just enough money to live the life style that he wants, and his first priority is making and releasing quality music.

I respect that!

I don't think he wants to release anything with this new band before Chinese Democracy. Actually, that's pretty fair... As we could see here lately, there's A LOT of people judging the new members by boots...

god I would love it... It?s so sad we gotta find by our own the bootlegs of the shows... but don?t think it?ll ever happen.... What will happen for sure is the dvd with the shows they are filming getting sold, so we can buy and they can make more money. Lol sometimes I think that?s all they care about: our money. Lips Sealed

no they dont. i know metallica.  they even might show a new song and you wouldnt know! or play songs that havent been played for years or if ever live  like orion. dont try to compare them you dick. metallca shows are way different than a cover band playing AFD. axl is great this tour but the song selections sucks

1. You can't compare multiple Metallica-Tours and one GNR-Tour. You have to compare one and one, if you wanna be fair.

2. This said: I saw Metallica at Novarock and at Rock am Ring, and it were as much the same shows as GNR puts on same shows - one core (MoP, AFD), plus songs from various albums (where Metallica indeed has more to choose from) - slight difference, but mainly the same. (Great shows by Metallica, both, btw).

3. "The new song" was played at the Waldb?hne once, "TWAT" was played at Hammerstein once.

4. The "you dick"-part was very intelligent.

well since GnR have so many tours to compare too.. lol.. u were the one that first tried to compare the bands.

yes this time is different for tallica coz they want to play one album in its complete! MoP! thats why its special. coz they dont do that very often. and the songs on that album are not played alot before this tour! axl has been playing and living off of 12 songs from 1988 for his life. he cant play another or a song like estranged anymore!

3. "The new song" was played at the Waldb?hne once, "TWAT" was played at Hammerstein once.
new song was new! TWAT was downloaded and months before. its differnt. its more random and new and frest what they did.

oh well u will belive that playing AFD is soo great to hear for years and years. ok! good!

The people attending the concert would want a copy I'm sure, meaning a few thousand downloads of each show at least.

No, I do not. There is nothing that I wish more than finally gettin my hands on ChinDem and watch a live show, which consists MAINLY of new material.

Only point I try to make here is that it's not THAT unusual for a ?band to rely on a) older material as a fundament and b) not to change that material to much on ONE tour.

GN'R is not alone. Many bands don't offer download of their tour.

Like cb said, those presales were real treats for the fans. Also in most cases they are not strict with the audience taking pics and recording the shows on this tour. They care in different ways.

you gotta buy the shows and it's all the shows not just Download...metallica has been trying to make as much $$$ as possible from everything they do for a while...hence the napster suit.

How, exactly, is the primary goal of Metallica offering their fans live shows making as much money as possible?...Of course there's commerce involved, it's a business, but damn, at least the fans get a token or momento of their experience.

oh yeah to answer In A Coma's question

On there website you can get all 9 europe shows. Why are GNR not doing this?Huh?

cuz they don't have a website Tongue ever since st anger was released metallica has made a bunch of live material available to Purcahse from their site...to generate more $$$ and so that greedy little sites like napster don't get their grubby hands on metallica's precious material...the more they put out the more that is "official"

so if gnr did this you can kiss the bootleg sections goodbye on sites such as these cuz EVERYTHING will become official material

You also can download some of these shows for free on several fan forums. It's very simple. A forum member bought some livemetallica shows and putted them on the forums as soon he gets them. That's how i got my 2006 Metallica shows. You can't get better quality. They are all soundboard.

but it's an illegal download...if gnr did that there would be no DL'ing from any gnr sites.

I understand soundboard quality and thats awesome...but I just think that it's another cashgrab by metallica Wink

And what about G N' R these day's? They are gonna release an album in the fall (if it's true) but where are the new songs in the shows? I'm not meanting I.R.S. and stuff but real new songs that no one has heard before. No,they prefer to play a Appetite overdose instead of promoting the new album. Isn't that a cashgrab?

I disagree most people on this site are pretty hardcore fans. Now as much as I would have liked to have gone to every european show money and time dictate otherwise. If I was in GNR (Which in my mind I am) I would have sold a european tour pass!! Each gig live on the web, mp3 available, backstage access, interviews with axl and the band. And as a hardcore fan I would have bought this!!!! Maybee its just me but I think this would be a great idea. Even if you just look at this from a monetary point of view, there are only so many seats in a stadium! Why not sell the gig to the fans who can't make it? I am a genius and I am now off to work in Marketing!!!!

If they are going to do what shit?  Is Metallica forcing the fans to buy the disc?  What do soundboard quality bootlegs have to do with lowering ticket prices...And no, collectors don't "have" to have them all...Buy the show you went to for $10 bucks and stop whining that Metallica strong-armed you into buying 40 live CD's, well, because you're a "collector."

I don't believe Metallica would have said exactly that, maybe something like "we do this for ourselves, not for anyone else" because that's the attitude they have and I think that's a good thing. The day that Metallica start catering to what people tell them they should play is the day that they've truly 'sold out'.

And besides, Metallica are so good to their fans - regular updates with what they're doing - studio and on the road, a website dedicated to their shows and setlists (with an option to buy a quality recording of the show you attended), a well-run fanclub, meet and greets organized for nearly every show they play. I've met the band several times and they all couldn't have been nicer, no rock star attitudes at all.

Whether you like their music or not is debatable, but they are really good to their fans.

no matter any circumstances (money/no free d/l etc.)......the main point is Metallica officially offers true digital complete soundboards from nearly EVERY show for about 10bucks only in best quality! you dont have to buy/collect them but at least you have the freedom of choice picking/getting them. this is just a fucking great service for fans these years!!

...and GN'R fans only have this official 2CD thing called "fake era"? Lips Sealed

Keep in mind that most of the songs played by GN'R on this tour are owned not just by Axl, but also former GN'R members, so I'm sure there are a lot of legalities that would have to be worked for any sort of public release of those songs. And I don't think Slash or Duff would be too crazy about signing off on something that would, at this point, solely benefit and promote the new GN'R.

actually a kinda a mix of the two peace

Quote from: Lars Ulrich
A lot of bands have this sort of ?give the people what they want, we?re doing it for the fans? mentality and all that type of stuff. I think people have sort of gotten their wires crossed a couple of times with this whole thing, because we are so accessible. Because we treat our fans with dignity and respect and so on, people put this kind of brand ?Metallica the fans band, ??Metallica the peoples? band? which I have no problem with. But we?re not doing it for the fans ? we do it for ourselves and ultimately the fans get something out of it.

And besides, Metallica are so good to their fans - regular updates with what they're doing - studio and on the road, a website dedicated to their shows and setlists (with an option to buy a quality recording of the show you attended), a well-run fanclub, meet and greets organized for nearly every show they play. I'll give you that but GnR has ever been secretive, it's just differences in the way they do things

Because ultimately they make more on each show...so why no reduce ticket prices cuz basically they recoup it for free from the boots...And I don't collect metallica music (or anything really)...but there are people that do... Tongue and ask some collectors around here if they have to have "everything" or not....there are people that feel they do indeed need to own everything

You also can download some of these shows for free on several fan forums. It's very simple. A forum member bought some livemetallica shows and putted them on the forums as soon he gets them. That's how i got my 2006 Metallica shows. You can't get better quality. They are all soundboard.

Be sure to tell Metallica this on their forum. I bet they would love it. I am sure they would respond faster than you could say Napster.

too true hihi

And what about G N' R these day's? They are gonna release an album in the fall (if it's true) but where are the new songs in the shows? I'm not meanting I.R.S. and stuff but real new songs that no one has heard before. No,they prefer to play a Appetite overdose instead of promoting the new album. Isn't that a cashgrab?

well they are getting back in the public eye and they aren't doubly charging all fans to pay ticket prices then buy a boot from their website ok

Another good point...at least they are offering a place to get undoctored shows, but still...i also hated it when PJ did this btw with cds...part of the charm of bootlegs...for me is hunting down a good one or the one you attended...i own all metallica's albums what like 8 albums and the garage days dbl disk and S&M...isn't that enough money handed to these guys? now they want fans to dish out more cash? i still say fuck that peace

I'm sure they have several reasons for not offering live recordings from this tour.

I guess it requires a lot of extra work to put it together.

I was standing next to the sounboard in Nijmegen, and the show (audio) was being recorded
