Ill say it again and some of u should be ashamed that mick jagger beat out Steven Tyler.

Steven Tyler can out sing any rock n roll frontman.

He is almost 60 and CAN STILL hit the high notes on Dream On.

Aerosmith are fuckin hated on and it pisses me the fuck off.

Pump was a great record, Get A grip was a great record, Nine LIves was a great record, Just Push Play was a great record.

I wish people would get the fuck off their back and realize this aint 1975 anymore, their music has to evolve or else they'd be ACDC or Creed or someone.

Steve Tyler's collaboration with Carlos Santana "Just Feel Better" is probably one of my favorite songs of 05 and it is incredible.

So people need to realize that Tyler is the greatest frontman of all time and they have to evolve and grow.

they cant write walk this way or sweet emotion again. Theyve been there, done that.

D, I'm totally with you barring a couple things.  Steven is definitely a better frontman than Jagger.  They're both great, but Steven is on another level.  Aerosmith is my 2nd all-time favorite band, topped only by GN'R.  And they still all perform at a level that most bands can only dream of.  But I also have disagree with the Just Push Play comment.  That is not a great album.  Its an ok album, and by Aerosmith standards its kinda bad.  Its got some good songs on it, but its also got some songs that are just not that good.  I also wouldn't say Nine Lives is great either.  I'd say its quite good, but for me Pump was their last great album.  Get A Grip was very good/almost great.  I'm looking forward to a new Aerosmith album big time.  And I really hope they ditch the songwriters and go it themselves.  I know they still got what it takes to put out a classic album.

What are u judging it on?

Does every song have to be a 10 for it to be a great record?

Get A Grip and Permanent Vacation are my least Fav new era Aerosmith records.

Nine Lives has the following great songs:

Falling IN love is hard on the knees
Hole In my soul
Taste of India
full circle
Attitude Adjustment
Pink
Kiss Your Past Goodbye
Fallen Angels

True a lot of that album isnt great but 8 very good songs is still pretty damn good.

On Just push Play, the following songs are Great

Beyond Beautiful
Just Push Play
Jaded
Sunshine
Trip Hoppin
Under My skin
I love you Lies
Avant Garden

I have a feeling some of u may not have gave this CD a proper chance.

those above songs are some of my favorite Aerosmith songs ever. Under My Skin is fuckin Amazing and I have no idea why it wasnt a single.

Just Push Play to me sounds like they're trying to be a little too modern.  And Joe Perry definitely isn't doing enough either.  There's some songs that don't even really have guitar solos.  Every song doesn't have to be a 10 for a great record, but all or at least most songs need to be good.  If some other band put out JPP I'd probably think a little more highly of it.  But I hold Aerosmith to a higher standard than other bands.

well they're touring for RTJ in the US until april, then theres a gap until probs around august for the crue tour, leaving late april to july...its possible they could tour in june/july but thats more summer. thinking about it, its unlikely a tour will be going on in two months and nothings been announced yet, let alone tix going on sale. we'll see, but my hopes are up despite myself. i don't think its going to happen, though ifthe band are mulling a visit to the UK it bodes well for coming here to support a new album in early-mid 07.

this may put a spanner in the works

ContactMusic.com is reporting that AEROSMITH have hinted their touring days may soon be over, after recognizing that they're not going to "live forever". The band admit their hectic schedule, which included a U.S. tour with LENNY KRAVITZ at the end of last year, is becoming increasingly hard to sustain and they are looking at life beyond music.

Guitarist Joe Perry says, "We're definitely closer to the end than to the beginning, and the number of times that we are going to play is a finite number. When you're young or even middle-aged, you figure that you're going to live forever and you don't care. But it's different when you get to the end of it. First of all it's pretty strange to have a rock band when you're this age, and even stranger to have one with this much energy. You can go out there and walk through this stuff, but we always try to keep the edge."

In the same inteerview, Perry reveals that he decided to quit AEROSMITH in 1979 because he was so ashamed of his inability to honour the rockers' loyal fanbase.

Perry, who rejoined the band five years later (1984), was suffering from a well-publicized drug problem and was fed up with AEROSMITH's unreliable behaviour letting people down.

He says, "There's a contract that you have with your audience that every band is sworn to. When someone out there works a nine to five job all week and they decide to spend the money that they've earned on your band then you have to deliver. Whether it's making an album or that person coming to see you in concert, you have an agreement with each other that they believe in you and you have to give them that reason to believe. At the end of the 1970s, we got really stupid and lazy. We were making mistakes that a band of our class shouldn't be making. We were breaking our contract with the people that believed in us and when you can't keep up your end of the bargain then that's when you call it a day and that's exactly what I did."

NAH thats nothing to worry about really other than the obvious, which is that aerosmith are getting older and can't continue forever. i think that quote about retirement is at least a year old if not 2 years old.

basically someone made a very good point on another board that in europe it will be world cup crazy this summer, not the best time for a tour when you really need to sell tix. looks like a no go, though i'm interested to know where classic rock got the info from.

AEROSMITH bassist Tom Hamilton recently told Tampa Bay Online that he knows AEROSMITH can't tour like road dogs forever. Just don't expect them to stop anytime soon.

"You get to the point where you're tired of [touring], but you still can't be away from it for long. That probably isn't a very healthy obsession," Hamilton said.

"In the future we probably won't tour as many months out of the year," he added. "You start thinking about all the things you want to do in your life and realize you don't have unlimited time. We're at a point where we need to make serious decisions about how we want to live."

AEROSMITH are currently scheduled to stay on the road until April. Then they'll head out again this summer (possibly with M?TLEY CR?E, if unconfirmed reports are to be believed).

Launch Radio Networks reports: AEROSMITH gave the fans in Tampa, Florida, last week a special treat when they brought CHEAP TRICK's Robin Zander onstage. Zander joined AEROSMITH on a cover version of THE BEATLES classic "Come Together", and he traded vocals with both Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. Thanks to modern technology, a fan was able to capture the performance, and the video is now online. To check it out, just go to YouTube.com and search for "Zander."

AEROSMITH first recorded "Come Together" in 1978 for the film "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", in which they played the FUTURE VILLAIN BAND. The song also came out that year on AEROSMITH's "Live Bootleg" album.

AEROSMITH and CHEAP TRICK are old friends, and they did a joint tour in 2004.

The next stop for AEROSMITH is Wednesday night (January 25) at the SBC Center in San Antonio. They're expected to announce more shows very soon.

Zander turned 53 years old Monday.

we already knew about the third leg of the tour, i'm fairly sure i mentioned it in my posts.

its look like they won't be coming to england not because of the 3rd leg, but because between this tour, and the next tour with motley crue/cheap trick, they have booked studio time. i think the plan is tour/record/tour/finish record and ideally put it out spring 07. we'll see.

shame they aren't coming to england, i keep meaning to email classic rock and ask them where they got their info from cos its interesting such a rumour was floating about.

sadly it seems to be all about the money and its big bucks to tour the US and Japan, small beans to tour europe often.

I kind of know what you mean. For the last few years it seemed that South Florida didnt exist for most of the shows I wanted to see. Now that we have the new Hard Rock Casino, an awesome venue, we've been getting alot of big name bands playing in a relatively small venue.

BTW, I have the link for the Pensacola Pre-Sale if anyone is interested

« Reply #239 on: January 31, 2006, 12:48:51 PM »

Ricardo Baca of The Denver Post recently conducted an interview with AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

On AEROSMITH's durability:

"This AEROSMITH thing constantly blows my mind, and it does the other guys' too, that we're able to carry on like this. It's been interesting, this classic rock swelling up underneath all the pop stuff that's going on. I don't know, there's something about good music and it isn't just that I have a soft spot in my heart for those songs that I grew up with, that I cut my musical teeth on."

On the band's nostalgia-hungry fans who have helped the group's current tour sell out nationwide:

"I've never been in any other band, so I can't say why they stayed together or why they didn't, but I know that everybody here gives the best they can from night to night. It all ties in with the whole idea about being together for 35 years and how come we're still out there and playing. It's a legacy, and we have a certain amount of respect for that ? and a lot of respect for our fans who have supported us throughout the years."

On his relationship with his bandmates:

"It still has its bumps and grinds, and we still have our arguments about stuff, but they seem a lot further apart. We still have a bigger mountain to climb, and that's keeping the band strong and keeping the music strong. And that hasn't changed in 30 years. We're constantly trying to play a better show than the one last night."

"There's a lot less ego involved. Speaking for myself, I'm a lot less inclined to slam my point home. You know what I mean: There's a lot more parity amongst the band members as far as working things out, and everybody's got their strengths and weaknesses, and we all recognize them for what they are and it makes it a lot easier to make decisions and work together creatively.

"There are times where we're sitting in the room going over stuff, deciding on dates on a tour or talking about the color of T-shirts, and I swear it could have been 30 years ago," he said. "It's the same people, and when you feel those feelings about what the band is as a touchstone, it seems timeless. In our personal lives, we all have our own system for making it work, but as the five guys putting it together and playing rock 'n' roll, we do all that together."

On the band's enduring live popularity:

"You still have to go out and prove to the audience that you're worth the money they paid to see you. We managed to keep up with the technology, so the fans really get the whole thing ? the lights and sound ? and everything is better than it used to be.

"They don't want to watch people falling down, and nor do I. If I go see a band, I don't give a (expletive) about the personal problems. I paid my money. All it took for me to realize this was putting myself in their seat for three seconds and I saw, 'This has to be good.' "

On the Grammy nomination for Rock Instrumental Performance for his solo track "Mercy":

"It really hit me sideways. With the solo record, I had a pile of music I felt I had to get out there. And it was a different set of circumstances than the solo record I put out 20 years ago. (This one) was from loving and recording music and playing my guitar and putting it out there, and that still burns inside for me ... It's still all there, intact, and it still blows my mind."
