Craig Howell.? Has done many album covers etc...? Including Godsmack, Velvet Revolver.

http://www.cheebaproductions.com/

Some of his stuff looks like the same style as Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar album art..
(for all i know he may have made that too)  peace

Just to throw a monkey in the wrench, so to speak... Smiley

It's also possible the DJ was confused.  Craig did do some work for GnR (as evidenced by the other thread with the kick ass poster in it) and, perhaps, the DJ just assumed it was the album cover.

I'm just sayin.....

I agree, but I'm sure if he knows Craig, he got it first hand. I assume the artists/designer would know if his work was being used for concert posters or an album cover. I'm sure there's a significant increase in $$$ if the art is used for a CD cover, rather than just a promo poster.

Again, we've had Dj's get supposed first hand information before and botch it up.  I'm not saying he's definitely wrong...but he could certainly have misunderstood what Craig was talking about and drawn his own conclusions.  I just wanted to play devils advocate and remind everyone that, by what we have to go on, there's certainly a reasonable interpretation of what we know that leaves the DJ being incorrect.

It makes sense. The poster we saw could be tied in to the album art...

Could be, but I doubt it; most of those tour posters bear no relation to the album covers by the same bands. I mean, look at the Coldplay one, or the Velvet Revolver one (if only that had been the cover to Contraband...).

a huge requirement for a successful ad campaign is consistancy, that way the people will recognize what your selling, it will be very familar to them.

since we have yet to see the images in this poster anywhere else, or any theme that it would represent, than it is safe to say that this relates to the album art in some way. its the only image in the gnr campaign to be more than just the logo, so for the sake of consistancy, i think its safe to say that we are looking at a photo relative to the CD art design.

not neccesarily the cover. but i bet it will be extremely closely related to the imagery of CD.

I don't know. ?I think the image in the poster is certainly remenicent of the UYI covers.....it has that same sense of classical construction with a dose of modernism thrown in for juxtaposiiton (not unlike Axl, himself, I imagine). ?That "closeness" to the UYI images could be enough to maintain the consistency for advertisement for this past leg of the tour. ?It's close enough to put one in the mind of the UYI covers, but different enough to raise interest.

It could also be the back cover, or a piece from inside the lyrics book.

Or it could be just what we've seen: Art for tour promotion, etc.

well i wasnt saying that we were looking at a definite cover, just something related to the album art design.

i see how you could reach the UYI conclusion, but i think for to many nonfans it would be a stretch. and with anything new, movies, music, its the nonfans that you are trying to get (while trying to appease the actual fans).

I thought Axl has already said and showed the album cover at a concert on the first GNR go around...
Wasn't it suppose to be a bike against a wall with Guns N' Roses spray painted on it? Huh

For the soul of my grandfather, I swear that I will smash my head into a wall If I hear again this same old story... rofl
