It means the songs is slow and nice then fast and heavy,like the day and night.
From the ?16 seconds i heard i can tell you that is AXL on it.
The General has a kick ass open drums on it so i belive CheckMate is The General.

I;ve been saying it's "Prostitute" since it came out. ?I really believe the title "Checkmate" was the middle finger to management. ?Remember, Prostitute was supposedly on the Trunk CD, and that's the tune management was rumored to be most concerend about.

If checkmate is axl and gnr, which it seams it is, then someone has at least that song available to release as and when they want.

As for razz being the point of orgin. He was one of them because he gave them to me an hour before everyone had them.

There's a couple people I need to touch base with on when the files hit them, exactly.? Can you PM me when Razz (date-ish and time-ish) got them to you?? I think a) I had them a day or so earlier and b) the hub had them earlier and c) someone on this forum, who shall remain nameless, was using them as trade bait to try to coax other leaks into the wild (and it wasn't Razz) even before that.? But I need to check on some of that information.

And please tell me what is wrong with power chords? They're like single notes except they sound more powerful. It's called the Hard Rock sound. I'd me more worried if GnR didn't play power chords to be honest.

If you don't like power chords, your looking forward to the wrong album. Trust me, you won't like it. May as well save you the time of waiting for it. Better go start listening to country music or something.

1) Razz did not try to get all of 'checkmate' , he knew the person that wanted to leak all those tracks wanted to hurt GNR camp so he contacted merck and snitched on the leaker. (maybe if the full song leaked we wouldnt get CD this year?)

Im blindly guessing, but I think "Checkmate" is actually "The General."

I remember an interview with Brain from YEARS ago when he said The General was his favorite track because he really got to shine on it, or it may have been Dizzy who said The General was insane due to Brain's drumming on it.

The 16 second Checkmate clip has pretty diehard percussion, that's the only reason for this guess.

Because he wouldn't want a cheesy song like that to be mistaken for a new GnR song.
