if you're referring the the del james article, read it again carefully. he's just saying that frank and ron are play trcks off chinese democracy live for the tour, not that they were rerecording bucket and brain's parts

The indication from the article was that Ron and Frank have recorded additional parts for music on the album. At no stage was there any specific indication made that they were re-recording anybody else's parts, they were simply adding to what was there, whether it is a complete track or a new track Axl recorded this year or something

Agreed.  I got that they participated in recording for the album.  Anything beyond that, in my opinion, is more speculation and rumor.

I think that Del James' article contributed to the "No CD in 2006" rumor the most.
it asked some questions that never got answered and the removal of the article didnt help at all...

It is. indeed If you read anything about Brain or Buckethead's parts being re-recorded at any time, that is complete speculation. It isn't even a rumour. People are just concerned.

What I've noticed is that Merck hasn't said *anything* since then (has he?).  There's a big difference between not repeating his original statement and not saying anything at all / disappearing...

It seems Axl has spanked the band members and its management with the silence stick again. Everything is on hold again.

I have no idea if things are on hold again, but it certainly seems like no one is speaking out of turn...if nothing else, I'd say there's a pretty heavy gag order in effect.

Apart from odd emails, nothing.
Like yesterday, he answered to my email following the latest rumours about a single coming out with the tracklisting as "Better" / "The Blues" / "The Blues" (The second version assumed as an alternate recording or remix or something), as well as a recent tracklisting mentioning a new song tiitle "Iron March", as well as an extra cd that would be released with the album containing live tracks from the European tour, and his response to all this was

"Everything you have been told below is rubbish. When we announce our news there will be no doubt that it is genuine."

I profusely thanked him for answering my question, and asked him in closing if the album was still on schedule for a release on a tuesday before the end of the year, to which, as of 10:43AM 24/11/06 Australian Eastern Standard Time, he has not responded to.

Yeah, I wouldn't say straight away, but if by early December, news is still thin, we can slowly start to wonder, unless of course they plan to announce, promote and release on very short notice, which is still a possibility.

Frank told me he recorded 5 tracks on Chin Dem, and that was it. He said it wasn't secret and that's why I included it in my Backstage @ MSG article.

Reading into it... which is ONLY reading into it, when someone like me phrases a question using the word "Tracks," it's commonly referred to in the music business as a song from beginning to end. So it could be any combination of 1 to 5 new tracks (songs) or 1 to 5 that were already there and were recorded over. I didn't ask so I don't know. (i.e. 1 old and 4 new.... 4 old and 1 new, etc., etc.) At any rate, if he recorded over ANY of Brain's tracks it wasn't to dis Brain, and probably had more to do with Frank being a team player and Axl rewarding him for it. (in my oppinion)

With that said, it seems to me like all of these mysterious and "secret" aspects of the new album only extend as far as people and reporters' inability to ask the right questions. ("My responses are limited... you must ask the right questions"- iRobot) That's why I said in my article that the LAST thing I was gonna do was ask Frank when the album is coming out. Not only is he probably not in the loop on that, but it throws the whole conversation into a "Oh God... another person looking for dirt and band secrets." It would be like asking a newly engaged famous person, "Where are you getting married?" Where as, through casual conversation you could probably ask what kind of D.J. he would like to have at his wedding... cheezy 80's, 80's & 90's rock, techno, etc., etc.

I don't think I've ever seen a reporter ask Axl why he has lyric monitors on stage. I think I know the answer, but most reporters want to know if he's marrying his new girlfriend... if it's true he made a U.K. audience wait in the heat while he ate freshly catered lamb chops (which isn't true)... if he thinks the tour is a failure because not every show is full, etc., etc.

So in my oppinion, you can ALL blame the evil MEDIA for everything you DON'T know about ChinDem, because the media doesn't WANT to know why Axl has lyric monitors. They want to keep making nasty remarks about how he probably can't remember his own lyrics because that sells magazines and newspapers. The truth, in fact, can be figured out by anyone just by watching Axl perform, as well as how he "manages" the first ten rows of the audience... which often has at least 10 trouble-makers peppered into it. And he does it so everyone else can enjoy the show. It would be a whole lot easier to ignore everyone, do his job, and take the money and run.

-edit-
I forgot something. Even though I never heard anything about a time frame for the release of ChinDem, I DIDN'T pick up any vibe like anything was "wrong" at that point. (MSG Nov. 10) It seemed very festive, and like everyone WAS still excited about the new album finally arriving before or near the end of the year.

good post..

I think to paraphrase what your saying is that the media wants GNR and this tour to fail, so theyll spread any sort of shit about him, rumors saying that the cd wont come out this year, that he doesnt care about fans etc..

axl wont let that happen..

You are correct. And unfortunately for the true fans, the only way to stop that from happening is for him to talk to NO reporters.

Ok, that's great you feel that way, but if the CD doesn't come out this year as Axl has stated, he'll get the bashing the media is most assuredly gonna give him. It'll be relentless.

There are just as many media types that want Axl and GNR to succeed as there are that want him to fail.

The overall interest, though, is dwindelling.

I agree. But I think he would make a statement to the fans about why it's late and would give us another date BEFORE the media has a go at him... in my oppinion.

That's where you're wrong. The REPORTERS might like him. But their bosses are evil scum that don't deserve to share oxygen with us. I mean that.

-------------------------------

Biohazard - Black And White And Red All Over Lyrics

Fascism, the epitome of ignorance

Listen up, I'll give you a for instance

People go hating for the color of skin

Won't they learn they'll never win

Play nto the hands of the media vultures

We must learn to unite our cultures

Violence constantly tears us apart

Show the world that we've got heart

[Chorus:]

Blood is spilled on black and white

Different colors, why do we fight

Face the facts, stone cold sober

Black and white and red all over

Thousands die and kill each other

Someone rapes and stabs their mother

I think it'ssick to count the death toll

On and on the media rolls

Drive by shootings, homicide

Nobody cares about the mother who cried

A family's grief stepped on by ratings

Understand why I keep hating

It makes no sense for us to be pawns

In the chess game that the media plays

If the streets are where you run

There you die, why? Find yourself a way out

Black and white and red all over

Ruling out the positive and any hope for peace

This will only kill morale, paper sales increase

This shit has got to cease

Black and white and red all over

Believe half of what you read and half what you see

Put two and two together and you'll have reality

Can't you see my reality?

[Chorus]

Turn on the TV and what do I see

Killing, murder and blasphemy

Rape, arsan, robberies

People die of incurable disease

Crashes, bashes, people on crack

Scandal, war and heart attack

Always strife in the middle fucking east

If war sells papers why don't peace

True, and the waiting doesn't help. Besides, it's amazing what power people believe the media have. The media can't make Axl fail, only Axl can. The media can't make the tour fail. The media is an easy scapegoat. How about looking at the actions coming from the GNR camp.
