I am referring to the one that had been out for awhile, since last year ... that one is the rough demo.

The  'newest' version is cleaned up through EQ-ing, which is why one can hear 'new' things in the song. One can also NOT hear certain things b/c of it too .... like guitar parts, etc ...

Moreover, there is no way a professional group like GNR would release such a shitty mix ... those levels are all over the place. It's really bad.  Perhaps it's a newer demo version. I could buy that theory. But I highly doubt it's the album cut.

Definitely like the crisper, harder drums in the beginning ...

In no way is this a "final cut"
IMO this is a new version though and much closer to what the studio version will sound like... I would much more prefer the louder guitars, drums and less of the computer influence to this version.

to me it was a feeler leaked by the gnr camp for reaction and to take our conversations away from the 3/6 date..
it worked!  in the meantime it gives them more thoughts to finishing this first single before release.

again IMO We will hear the final studio cut on the radio within the next 30 days....

The first thought I had was that it's a tad slower too ...

I doubt they care what we think of their songs evolution, as far as structure, sound, etc. They do not look to fans for direction.

But it did take our eyes off the target.

I knew it wouldn't happen eaerly March. I guessed late March. You never know!

and yes, it is another leak... and a different version... some people still think it is just someone here or there that tweeked it when most of can tell it is absolutely different musically and lyrically

I heard it friday night on CFOX 99.3 in vancouver, British columbia.....i'm requesting it but they haven't played it from what i can see. It seems to have been a one off. But for the stations that played the song we should request it and if they play then it would be an indication that its Okay.....if they ignore it then its for sure an unofficial version.

We've played pieces of it several times, sorry you've missed it, it's
not exactlly broadcast quality that's why we can't play the whole thing.
Thanks for listening!

it`s the same recording as the last demo, only differently mixed and in good quality.

and it`s no fake....

The? 'newest' version is cleaned up through EQ-ing

You have no idea what you're talking about. Last year's leak was released in 128 kbs quality and sounded degraded. The latest leak sounds like a direct rip from a CD, even though it's only 160 kbs.

I've read that such programs like Adobe Audition could easily change the song.

I have heard nothing that sounds like a direct CD rip. Perhaps the radio stations have it and the ones online are sub-recordings. I don't know. CD -quality is 1000+ kps ...  which can be compressed down, see itunes.

You should stop reading and actually use a sound editing program. You can't polish a turd into a brick of gold.

Besides, like already mentioned, Finck's backing vocals are different in the new leak compared with last year's original leak.

Actually, Better had 160kb. Also, there was no Finck's backing vocal in the other demo, it was all Axl.

And yes, it's possible to EQ the original Better demo with Adobe Audition, Pro Tools or whatever and have a similar result. You can even copy the firtst chorus and paste it in the place of the second one, to have Axl's changed lyrics. His yell at the end of the second chorus is noticible edited to fit two recordings.

The thing is that some stuff like the "na na na" backing vocal is added. To record those things just to make a fake version would be way too stupid. Tongue

Axl doesn't sound like a cat dying when he sings - it's Finck on both versions of the demo.

You obviously don't know Axl's range. Sorry, but it's not Robin for sure.

It's not Robin in this part, mate. In both demos.

I'm not sure whose voice is in the "na na na" harmonic backing vocal. hell, I don't even know if its just a keyboard doing this job.

yep and maybe tommy maybe Chris...

It's not Robin in this part, mate. In both demos.

Actually it was the 'now we know you better' bit just after 'all that I wanted was' that I thought there was some other backing voice.  Tongue
