I guess the same reason they'd make up BS release dates for albums  Roll Eyes  amazon.co.uk finally gave up on their August 25th guess and updated it to September 29th.  The good news is eventually they'll be right . . .   peace

Play.Com has the relsease date as October 27th, 2008.

It's looking mroe likely that will get the cd by then end of the year.

This is from the BBC website. That's the British Broadcasting Corporation and is the world's largest broadcasting corporation and is the largest news gathering system. On their website it states:

US release date for Roses album

Guns N' Roses have not released an album for 15 years
Guns N' Roses long-awaited new album, Chinese Democracy, is to be released in the US on 23 November.
The album will come out ahead of the regular Tuesday release slot in US music store Best Buy, according to Billboard magazine.
The rock band's last record, their covers collection The Spaghetti Incident?, came out in 1993.
Their new song Shackler's Revenge will debut on the soundtrack of video game Rock Band 2 ahead of the album release.
A date for Chinese Democracy to hit UK shops has yet to be confirmed.
Free pop
Another track from the album, If The World, is used on the closing credits for the film Body of Lies, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe.
The new album will be accompanied by a vinyl re-release of Guns N' Roses' 1987 debut, Appetite For Destruction.
Earlier this year, a US soft drinks manufacturer pledged to send every American a free can of pop if Chinese Democracy saw the light of day before the end of 2008.
The most recent release date for Chinese Democracy was March 2007, but it vanished from the schedules as the album was further delayed.
Earlier this year, the band took legal action against a blogger who leaked some of the album's tracks online.

It's hard to say which is better since we don't know why Best Buy changed it.

Is it because they were so overwhelmed with orders that the amount of copies they had available for pre-orders sold out or maybe they jumped the gun or maybe what is actually going to be released is something different from what was listed, etc.

I would expect an announcement SOON.  Their timing was probably off between web & news release...not that one is neccisary at this point.

Why the hell is Best Buy allowing reviews on CD when it's not even out yet? They're all talking about the demos, this isn't GN'R, Slash, blah blah fucking blah. Can't they disable reviews until the product is actually released?
