Brains and Beauty are a lethal combination!

In today's Sunday Mail (Adelaide paper), the Sunday Mail photographer, Simon Cross talks of how he was invited back to Axl's Hyatt Penthouse after the show to take some photos. About 30 people were in the room, there were 3 trolleys of spirits, eskys of beer and trays of Red Bull. A band member? was playing Elton John and Beatles songs on the piano.......

Axl told Simon how he loves wallabies and has a few of them as pets. Everyone was relaxed and happy and the band members said that they have never seen Axl so happy after a concert!! He played a bit of piano and talked about his cigar collection. The party went on for 4 hours until they all departed for the airport.

I'll try and get the photo of Axl, Baz, Robin and Ron up for you soon!

Another review by Kate Mickan says that the concert drew the biggest crowd that the Entertainment Centre has seen in a long time!!!

I'm trying to upload the newspaper article (not online) reviewing the Adelaide concert + photo using the village photos website but apparently the image is too large. Any other suggestions?

Belated Review.

Worth every cent I payed to travel from Canberra to see the show.

Got to Adelaide around ten in the morning and quickly sampled a number of local pubs and beers, decided to get some sleep before the show and didn't wake up until five and thought we would have no hope of getting a good spot anymore, was very surprised to see only around fifty to a hundred people in line once I got to the entertainment center so I headed over the road for a couple of bourbons to keep me chilled out in line. In the space of thirty minutes things really picked up and my anticipation and realization kicked in that we were only hours from an experience I've waited half my life for.
Things moved smoothly and we even managed time for a rum inside the venue and to grab some merchandise before we grabbed a vantage point I couldn't have dreamed of mere meters from the stage. I was pretty upset that the only merchandise that seemed to mention Australia was a key/wallet strap but happy with my shirt and of course, stubby holder.

Rose Tattoo wasted no time in getting things started and were solid throughout, I'll be looking for the new album as soon as I recover from the debt this holiday put me in although I get the feeling they are a live/pub band more than enjoyable on disc. A truly Australian touch that sat well with most.

Never was a big Skid Row fan but its obvious why Sebastian is in tow, one giant ball of energy start to finish. Incredible to witness his enthusiasm and I gained a new respect for his vocal abilities and I would be the first to see him headline a show next time round. One problem was he seemed to be hanging around way to long, perhaps getting messages from backstage which became a concern to anyone who may be following the 06' tour but at the same time built my anticipation for G'N'R even more. I truly expected to wait another hour after sound check for the lights to go, it seemed like seconds.

The opening line was nothing near what I have seen in other recent concert recordings yet something I will never forget, Welcome To The Jungle was never a favorite of mine and seeing it live didn't much change my opinion. Axl took some time to warm to the occasion it seemed but by the time Live And Let Die came around he was firing on all cylinders. LALD is another song I have skipped a lot over the years, as is YCBM yet these were probably the best performed songs of the night, vocals, guitar, everything. Its is quite obvious in these tracks that Guns are a well oiled banned not Axl and hired help.
The whole set was amazing in terms of the bands compatibility and timing. I've heard so much about how they don't gel well on stage and I have no idea where this comes from, what concert are these people watching? If anything Fink sometimes stuck out like a sore thumb and Frank blended in with the backdrop but Guns'N'Roses today rival the line up of any past in regard to performing as the one unit and doing so happily enough. Promising.

I'm not sure if anybody else noticed but a number of times Richard (from memory, maybe others as well) strummed opening lines to something and got a lot of humorous response from Axl and the band until eventually Axl said "No!" and laughed. Perhaps something new is coming soon? or perhaps just an inside joke. Everyone was in a very, very good mood and to me personally it didn't seem to be the good mood a holiday in Adelaide would put you in more like somebody had received some good news of late. Probably reading to much into it but what the hell, its fun to speculate.

Amazing set list and hearing Madagascar and The Blues live is something I truly appreciate. Other highlights were the KOHD sing along of course and the Don't Cry solo although the crowd participation left a lot to be desired on both accounts. LALD has been stuck in my head for days.

Lowlights, Adelaide itself. I'm sorry for you locals and I realize it was a Wednesday night but the place seems horrid. I spent the night at the Casino where I seen a few die hard Skid Row fans and a few roadies and television 'stars' before heading back to the hotel at eight in the morning and hungry for more. Pretty sad when the highlight excluding the concert was looking through the bars into Adelaide Oval and checking out some memorial statues and architecture. Haha perfect place for a Stones concert. Everybody was either staking out the hotel straight across the road or heading home to bed.

Anybody with photos, video, merch, promotion etc from the night whether the venue, streets, concert or bars looking for a buyer PM me.

Also speculation, of course, but Axl seemed like pretty happy (maybe good news?) as said in this article:

When I first read it, I thought the exactly same thing: looks like he got some good news!

Just speculation, anyways... Smiley

I think cd is close. we just have to hang in there alittle bit longer. its great to see axl have a different/happier mood as of late. its nice, and I think it lends to the fact that CD will be out this year.

especially the BIG gap between japan and the rumored south american dates
