the bands I dont feel sorry for
are the ones that heavily use pro tools/other music software/effects..cheat etc
and have a hit song  because of it
and then expect to cash in on riding the wave of the popularity of that hit song/songs that are in style
at that time from the cd sales...
and then cant tour on the back of there cd, because they can't reproduce the song live ,
or they cant create a good live performance for there fans, so they rely on
the computer music they made , which suffers due to piracy...

Im not saying I support downloading/piracy and burning and such
but Think of it this way,
this has forced alot of bands to tour and work hard to please the fans,
and some musicians today cant tour because of what they created in the studio
is impossbile to recreate when touring,

in some cases it weeds out the real rock stars/musicans in the world today, from the "posers'

Don't blame him for the fall of the record industry.  It's not his fault that the labels signed so many crap bands and released so many cds with just one good song out of 12.

As I said before, I think Skwerl is a hero for enabling us to hear these songs that otherwise amy never see the light of day.  I see people write on here that Axl owes us nothing so , in turn, what do we owe Axl?

well axle has been saying he is releasing these songs for years. someone has to release them.

You can't even spell his name right.

It's not up to "somebody" to release other people's music without their consent.

Get it?

Everything you said has been talked about already.

Nice to see the people with warnings supporting the band by claiming the thief is a hero.

Fans.... Right!

That have nothing to do with my other thread. But some people dont own perspective when it comes to other peoples art. Just read what Jarmo wrote.
GnR should be the ones to release it, when they feel its ready...

Sorry to burst your bubble but I am not a world famous porn star that has been telling the world about my new movie for 15 years so the comparison is way off.  But if I were, there would be a huge audience for it!!!

I have not seen an answer to my question:  What do we owe Axl?

I am glad that there were leaks.  It let me know that this album is more than a myth.  I will still buy an official copy when and if it is released.  If anything these leaks have provided some hype for the casual fans.  The people I have played them for have been impressed, so it is not a totally negative event.

So just because I have the downloads I am not a real fan?  I beg to differ.  The money I have spent on copies of AFD, UYIs, and Lies plus tix and t-shirts, posters, etc. prove otherwise.  The fact that I braved a harsh winter drive across the country to see the first Vegas show at HOB in and of itself makes me a worthy "fan".

We owe him the same thing we owe every other artist out there ..... to be able to decide for themselves how/when/if their work is to be shared with the world.

Money spent doesn't make you a fan.

Boohoo you had to drive in snow. Cry

Respecting the artist you're a fan of's wishes makes you a fan.

I think most of us have - if they had the opportunity - listened or downloaded the leaks. I heard all available leaks when I had the chance too. I didn't however had the chance to hear/download the leaks this guy put on his site; so I do not know if these are the same leaks (the ones they also already played live) you find on other sites... (Better, Madagascar, TWAT, ...)

Ofcourse it doesn't mean, if you are a fan and listened/downloaded the leaks, that you will not buy the album. If you liked it and you're a fan, you ill buy it. Well, at least I will.
Maybe it's a different story for those who didn't liked it...but is that a problem?

So by your line of thinking I should respect a band like Rage Against the Machine's call for anarchy even though I know that  it is a totally dumbass point of view or I am not a fan?  Or being critical of my favorite baseball teams wishes to pay big money for an old overrated player makes me less of a fan?  That's bullshit.

True, money spent doesn't make you a good fan but it is an indicator to your dedication.  Actually, it was an ice storm on Oklahoma that was nasty.  You see I was out living life and seeing a great show while you were home in your mom's basemet jerking off to internet porn.

Well, I guess that makes me and ol' Axl even then.  He has disrespected me on at least 2 occasions when I had to sit and wait 3 hours plus for him to get his ass onstage.

Oh really?

Did you get a crappy show?

Ever heard of this thing called rock n' roll?

I guess you must be happy that you didn't have to witness the acoustic show in London in 2006. It started really really late!  hihi

No, the show was great but that is beside the point.

Ever heard of a thing called prfessionalism?  I have been to hundreds of shows and Axl is the only one who has made me wait like that.
