I think its funny how the press always tries to portray Axl one way, but when you see him with something like this or the Trunk show when his real personality shines through, he's funny and down to earth.  ok

Anyway, thanks for putting them all in on topic, Jarmo!

Ahhh my only complaint was my lame question. Its like asking the Pope if he likes all those impressions of him on TV or some dumb lame crap. Grrrrr.... glad he answered it. But I wish the question on "Catcher in the Rye" was answered.

Axl how do you feel about Kanye outselling Chinese Democracy? Do you like Kanye's music?

I met Kanye at the Versace awards. He was very gracious. I love Gold Digger and told him so. I'm a big fan of his stage performance as he seems to go for it physically which I relate more to. B4 r release I sent him a msg that any nonsense from the media had nothing to do with us and wished him the best. I'm humbled we've done as well as we have considering.

Now, can you please all stop bitching about Kanye, the Killers etc like its some damn blood feud?!  Grin
All the personal attacks on these other act from some of you and the desire to crush them was ludicrous/childish.

Axl do you control the weather or is that solely Oprah?

Yeah....I love the Killers. Good pop/rock that has a groove to it. And didn't Axl give the Killers a rub by coming out on MTV Music Awards in 2006 introducing them ? And that was a 1st. Axl wouldn't do that for just any band unless he liked them I'm sure. Plus how cool would a 2009 tour of "The Killers"  & Guns n Roses"  be ?

I think its cool that Axl took his time to come out and do this. Alot of the answers(Robin, Bucket, Old Band, Promotion, Merck) were tyical non descript, say lot without saying anything at all. It does make me look forward to Soul Monster though! I woulda liked to have seen more ?s about the album, songwriting, time frames..PHILLY!!!

Here is a few ?s I woulda liked to Ask, if he did this again.

Axl, Alot of the songs on CD where played either for RS or live over 7-10 years ago. When was this album(CD), pretty much done? and can you describe for us, a typical day in the life of GNR, in the 2000s, recording process and whatnot.

Axl, which member of the new band, do you seem to connect with, sonwriting wise, the best?

Axl, since the Illusion era, and the grunge/alt rock of the 90s, these following bands have emerged as some of my favorites. The White Stripes(and all Jack Whites work), Kings Of Leon, and Wilco. Do you like any of these bands, and would you like to comment on what has caught your ear in the last 10-15 years or so.

Axl, has there ever been an idea kicked around of you and Izzy recording together, even if it is not under the GNR name? Something like Axl, Izzy and there ____ band? Woud there be a door for that open in the future?

First of all, thank you Axl for answering all these questions.

It would be impossible for me to be online at the time with my new business but I had a couple of questions about Catcher In The Rye as it is quickly becoming my favorite song from the new record (after my obsession with This I Love)...

Both of them are a bit strange and may sound stupid to some, plus they won't be answered by Axl (as this "interview" is long gone) but what the fuck...

1) Many people consider number 7 to be a lucky number (including me). Is this a good reason why Catcher is on number 7, or was it just random placement?

2) "How a body took a body and gave that boy a gun". Sorry for my english, but if anyone could explain to me what this means, I would be gratefull...

This was REALLY fucking cool of Axl to do for us. We got to ask what we really wanted to know about, not some boring, half-baked questions from an MTV reporter, or Leno. Makes me proud to be a fan.

Scotland has Chinese Democracy!!  peace

O Jenny's a' weet, poor body,
Jenny's seldom dry:
She draigl't a' her petticoatie,
Comin thro' the rye!

Comin thro' the rye, poor body,
Comin thro' the rye,
She draigl't a' her petticoatie,
Comin thro' the rye!

Gin a body meet a body
Comin thro' the rye,
Gin a body kiss a body,
Need a body cry?

Gin a body meet a body
Comin thro' the glen,
Gin a body kiss a body,
Need the warld ken?

Gin a body meet a body
Comin thro' the grain,
Gin a body kiss a body,
The thing's a body's ain.

Comin Thro' The Rye - Robert Burns
(Composition date - 1796)

A little history lesson for the Catcher In The Rye fans  ok

Thats the poem that  influenced J. D. Salinger to reference in the book. Its a very old poem from the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns. The references in the book Holden Caulfield makes to "coming through the rye" are based on that original Scottish poem.

Its not written in English, but true Scottish dialect - "a body"  means a person, "anybody" - but specifically implying somebody. Its confusing to people who dont understand Scottish language, I understand people can have difficulty understanding the different uses of english phrases and words. Throw in ancient Scottish dialects of English its impossible for non English speaking nationalities to grasp.

Basically the line Axl uses "How a body took a body"  relates to  Holden Caulfield referring to the old rhyme throughout the book.

The language "how a body took a body" originates in the Scottish poem I posted a few weeks ago.

Think "a body" as a soul, or human being.

The reference to the gun I assume has a direct connection with Mark Chapman.

Damn, I'm sorry I missed this too!  That transcript was a great read, tho.  I'm really glad he addressed the booklet issue.  That has bugged me - not necessarily because it's fucked up, but because putting out a product like that didn't sound like something Axl would allow.  Call me a sucker, but I'll be buying CD again if/when the booklet is fixed to what Axl wants it to be!

I agree with those of you who've said that was much better than a TV appearance on a lame talk show or an interview with some dude who doesn't know shit about the last 15 years!

Thanks Axl.

Thanks a lot for pointing that out!
