You what? Speak for yourself !! (Or rather, yourselves. Midlands, innit?) The pub scene up here, and back when I'm home down south, has tons of variety. Pubs over clubs any day of the week, but that goes without saying, really. I swear, there was a pub that I used to frequent when I was 16/17 that would have been your wet dream. Seriously, you wouldn't have believed your luck.

Don't get me wrong, there are a ton of places to avoid, but... Well, there is also a stack that I frequent. Whether it's the student filled mess of an 'alternative' pub that I go to, or the village pub that my girlfriend works at that counts me as just about the youngest regular... By some way. And then of course there are the Ale specialist, nothing better then some o' that stuff inside of you.

They aren't always easy to find, you just have to hunt down the (and I use this word with a substantial amount of sick in my mouth) scene. I would say stay clear of Whetherspoons, but that ain't generally true, and quite the opposite in fact when they have bought out (the bastards!) a local, or, well, any decent sized pub with any vague amount of history attatched to it, it would seem.

Also, I've found that... Oh, sorry Jdog, my man. I'm not sure where that came from. You were saying?

I live near Cannock. that was like voted the 2nd most chav filled area in Britain.

Its hassle everywhere round here. Closed minded chav types lol!

My advice is not to worry about women until you are like 22 or 23 at least.  It's just a distraction, and now is a good time for you to start building a solid base for your future life.  If a woman happens to come along in the meantime, great, but if not, don't worry about it.  Focus on building a good foundation for your job and your plans for the future.

I find when things are most depressing, if I set goals for myself and actually reach out and make progress towards those goals, it makes all the difference in the world.  Focusing on things, like girls, is just a waste of time and you will have plenty of time for that in your future.

Another point:  The guys that are usually the best with women are either a) naturally that way, and that's that or b) they've spent a lot of time with women figuring out how to be smooth.  Basically, they've wasted their time, and instead of becoming smart and making something of themselves, they've become good at picking up women.  Figure out which you'd rather be.

Now what's stopping someone to be both?

I've never been great with the ladies, but lately in my life things have been going well.  I have the first serious relationship in my life, and we've been together 9 or so months now, which is fantastic.  And she is beautiful.   Prior to this, all of my relationships lasted a few days, or a month or so tops.  It's a nice change.   

I was never one to try either though, cause when I was younger, I choose to spend my days learning how to program computers rather than going out.  (certainly there was a decent amount of nervousness with approaching women early on, but it's something I just had to forget about and approach them despite this).

I suppose you can become good at both, but I don't think that is in the cards for most, and I do honestly believe it's a waste of time to focus on getting laid or picking up women.    You can knock me about it, or whatever, but I really think too many men waste the prime time of their life for advancing their skills and focusing on improving themselves on getting laid.  It's fun when you're young, but you get older and look back and realize all the opportunities you missed.

And if you can do both, more power to you.

its alright now that i think about it the liquor buissness really runs on depresion so it kind or intersting i guess

Hay guys im back but today 1/5/09 i feel shity cus exactly 1 year ago my grandpa died

Hey man sorry for your loss.  This is all part of growing up.  We've been through it and my kids have as well.  Your too young to feel bad or worry about what will be.  You have to just enjoy yourself and not worry so much.  You'll look back years from now and wish you were able to go back in time.  Don't wait on one girl because so many others will pass you by that are most likely better for you.  Talk to your friends and to others that aren't in your particular circle as well.  It'll open more doors for more opportunity as far as friends and especially girls.  Don't get caught up in your blues, keep busy, keep studying and you won't feel depressed.  The more active you are the less you think about what you can't have or can't do.  Don't follow the crowd be a leader and never be afraid to try new things including hanging with people that you normally would shy away from that includes your parents if possible.  I'm sure if you asked your parents or other family to do something they would be happy to.  I know I'm that way with my kids.  Even if they want to go to a diner for breakfast, I say hell yeah because sooner or later they'll move out and start their own families.  Your not depressed, you are lacking self confidence and the only thing you can do to build confidence is to get out there and live life.  Keep studying, keep sports active and socially active and you cannot fail!  Make that your goal....Good Luck
