This is not a piano falling out of the sky

WWW
« on: December 19, 2009, 06:57:45 AM »

Ok I'm not sure where this goes so I just put it here. If I choose the wrong forum please move this thread, thanks.

I'm from the netherlands and plan to go to Canada at the end of january to see guns n' roses in hamilton (jan 24), london (jan 25) and toronto (jan 28).
Does anybody on this forum live in one of these cities and know a cheap place to stay? Preferably a hostel. The cheaper the better and I'd like it to be as close to the venue as possible. Here's where I plan to stay:

jan 23 - 24 in Hamilton
jan 25 - 26 in London
jan 27 - 28 in Toronto

Also, anybody know any things I must see in these cities or close to them (are the niagara falls easily accessible with public transport?) when I'm around anyway? If there's really something I must see I could choose to leave a little later. Thanks in advance for all the replies!

Dunno about cheap places to stay, but if you want to see Niagara Falls at this very cold time of year, check out the following:

http://www.casinocoach.ca/page.aspx?menu=30&app=147&cat1=366&tp=2&lk=no

It's a bus destined for Fallsview Casino, which is walking distance from the Falls. 10$ seems reasonable and they apparently give you a 10$ coupon for lunch at the casino (keep in mind lunch will probably cost twice that Wink). I don't see anything that says you HAVE to actually go to the Casino, so you could probably take this as a cheap way to get there.

You'd be departing from Hamilton for this one as that's the closest out of the cities you're staying in.

Try places like priceline.com or hotwire.com. If the location isn't that important...

Admiral Inn is 1.5 km to Copps Coliseum which would be a $5 taxi ride.  Rooms are around $100 Canadian.  There are cheaper places...but I don't know if I'd wanna stay in 'em.

In Toronto I'm staying in the backpackers inn for just 15 euro per night. (15 minute walk from the venue)
In London same thing but I can't remember the name of the place Smiley
I can't find a real cheap place in Hamilton so I'm thinking about going fuck-it style and book a f*cking expensive 5 star hotel, should be fun too for just one night Smiley

Be very careful of hotel/motels on 118 Ave in Edmonton, as this street is notorious for heavy drug trafficking, prostitution, and crime. It's unfortunate that Rexall is on the same street, but if you can get a place east or north of Rexall just off of 118 that's probably your best bet.  ok
