Looks like Tool is working on a new EP, and the Smashing Pumpkins will be releasing a double album. beer

No. Danny Carey wants to work on new music, or hopes to.

Couldn't the EP be "new music"? Don't understand what you mean here...

Tool are not working on new music. In the interviw Danny said he HOPES too work on new music that could end up on a EP or something

The Rolling Stones just released a new single today, to tide fans over until they can get back on the road...

Is it possible GN'R can do something similar, or is that just fantasy?

Within an hour or two you will be told by someone that the big bad awful disgusting record company won't allow such an offensive idea to materialize and the band are innocent bystanders not being allowed to express their art

there is a pic on instagram of what looks like a list of 14 songs on a new album with a release date of november 25th.  all songs are blacked out but you can see who wrote them.  only 3 appear to be from the 1998-2005 era.

I think there is new music but the years long question is when it will be released?  Every couple of months there are rumours of new music but never a definitive plan to release new music.  I will take this news with a grain of salt. beer

With her saying this, it seems Slash and Duff is very involved in the music.

It will be interesting to see if they leave anything recorded by Bucket or Robin on the final release. If they want to replace everything, and there are some crazy Bucket solos, I suppose Richard might have a go in creating something similar. Either that, or give the song a whole new «feeling» with Slash soloing.

Well, at this point, there is no way in hell to determine what we will get. The whole world is upside down. Bizarro World to the max.  Tongue

Well this is certainly the most straight-up confirmation yet. None of that "we're working on stuff" without explicitly saying "new original material"...

that's great news from Susan and it sounds very promising.

since the world is on a stand-by we probably have to wait until
next year when people can move and work in normal conditions.

I would think the current state of things would actually help get it out earlier. Strike while the iron is hot, you have a captive audience with absolutely nothing to do. It's not 1991 anymore, no one is going to line up outside of a physical record store to buy it. It is going to driven by downloads, streaming, and internet orders which can all still happen. They can't tour so they are able to dedicate time to it. They all have the ability to record from home if there are finishing touches needed (but as Chinese Democracy proved, just put out the early material and don't give Axl years to re work it).

You could release a track at a time. You could do a record release live stream almost zoom style and have a listening party with band members. I feel like the options are endless.

Just release it and then tour on it as soon as the world opens back up for business.

you just forget one thing : it's not involving just the band.

you forgot the management, the record company staff, the marketing service,
the legal team, the distribution network, the graphic design department, etc.

it's not just 3 guys who make everything in the basement of their aunt, it's tens
or hundreds people who needs to coordinate their work to launch the final product.

and these people are all at home at the moment. teleworking can't do everything.

I don't see much limitation. I mean, what can't they coordinate via digital solutions?
