It's most likely another SA tour.  Fernando (I believe it was him) updated the GNR page that they were working on it a month or so ago.  Wish they'd focus on getting the next album out instead.  Oh well.  Better than nothing?  Undecided

The very definition of the concept, really.

It's easy to get down on fans who aren't exactly psyched about the concept of GNR plotting yet another tour leg.  The fact, however, is that GNR has another album and a half worth of finished tracks from the Chi Dem era + whatever else DJ has cooked up.  Releasing even a single on itunes would show that things with the label are starting down the right track.

Plotting and focusing on more touring eludes to the fact that patching things up with the label and putting out new music for the real fans is not exactly a priority for Axl & Team Brazil presently.  That's kind of troubling to fans who are passionate about hearing new Guns music.

Touring is a convenient excuse.  Its why there is always another leg.  Can't work on the album, we're touring!  Don't you want to come see us?

Look how many people buy into that routine.

It's certainly starting to seem that way.  Every time it seems like we may be closer to getting new music, or at least seeing progress in that venue, bam, more dates are scheduled.  Or as Ron puts it "Life gets in the way."

Is anyone aware of any attempts being made to get the next album out? I know there was a rumor that the next album was turned in and rejected in 2010, but I never really bought that.

Nobody's buying into any routine besides people like you.

Your favorite band is coming to your town, you don't wanna see them? Then don't go.
You can sit at home and complain when they don't tour about not being able to see them. We've been there too.

Nobody knows what the so called priority is. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out most of the logic posted by those who oppose touring is, to put it nicely, flawed.

I've lost count on how many times I've read so called experts wishing the band didn't tour anymore so they'd go into a studio to record. Well, the band isn't touring at the moment. Which studio are they in?
People simplify the world to fit their picture and disregard the things we know because it's convenient.

So, let me ask you a hypothetical question: If there are issue(s) that prevent a new release to happen at this exact moment, would you rather have a band touring or not doing anything? It seems to me that some of you prefer the latter so you can sit and whine about it. Even though if the band does the first, you'd whine about that too.

I think the issue here is that most of us were hoping that Axl & TB were using the current time off to plot the next album's release, rather than yet another SA tour, something they're already done twice since 2010.  Considering the next album is largely done, every time GNR takes an extended break, many fans hold their breath hoping that when the next announcement comes it will be in regard to the next album.  So when an announcement does eventually come, and it is about more touring, it lets some of the wind out of the sails of those who are anxious to hear new music.

So, in answer to your question, I'd definitely rather have GNR tour than do nothing at all.  It's just that, personally, I want the next album way more than more touring.

I don't know how to explain it in a simpler way.

Imagine you plan to go out for a run tomorrow if it's sunny. You wake up the next day and it's pouring down. You could go out and run in the pouring rain, or you could make alternative plans for that day and hope it doesn't rain the following day.

Has this ever happened to you? It's happened to me, more than once in my life so far.  hihi

Now, take this and imagine it being a band. A band hoping to do something, and then have the opportunity to do something else while they wait for the first thing to happen.

Does it really seem that far fetched? Not for me. Maybe because I live in a country where it might rain a lot in the summer months. hihi

Lol.  No, I definitely hear you and your point is valid.  I'm just explaining why I'm not completely psyched about the prospect of more touring.  Don't get me wrong, if tomorrow they announced a Chicago date I'd be all over it and buy tickets immediately, as I did in '02, '06, '11 &'12.  I'm just rabidly awaiting The General, Atlas, Soul Monster, etc...

Everybody wants an album, no point in arguing about that.

The question is, if you can't have that now, what are you gonna do?

Iron Maiden and Metallica are playing at Rock In Rio. Iron Maiden's latest studio album came out in 2010. Now they're touring in support of a concert film released in 1988.
Metallica isn't exactly out touring to promote the album they did with Lou Reed.

Metallica has had all kinds of reasons to tour. Remember "Big Four"? Or those shows when they played the Black album in full. And so on.

Are their fans "upset"? I have no idea...

An active band is always better than an inactive band.  Though, of course, I'd love to hear a new album more than anything.

Kind of surprised that something has arose to require Ron to reschedule his whole tour. Must be a pain for him after all that preparation, still glad to see that it doesn't seem to have caused any problems on his end. You've got to feel it's something to do with GN'R but we'll see, fair play to Bumble though.  peace

So...Is it possible that the next GNR album could coincide with the next round of touring, or is that just completely outside the realm of possibilities at this point?

I'm seeing Ron tomorrow at the Copenhagen Guitar Show. I've won a meet and greet with him also (I don't know how many other people have also won) I can post pictures and tell what Ron said here if anyone is interested.

I was in Split, Croatia for the Guitar Show he did Oct-15-2013. I was impressed, to say the least. Despite sleep deprivation, Ron took all the time in the world to jam with people, signing stuff and taking thousands of pictures with fans.

He even did a quick meet-n-greet the day before, which turned up into 3 hours acoustic show at one of Split's rock bars. I was there also  hihi

We ended up taking the same flight from Split early in the morning on Wednesday and I sincerely hope he managed to catch some sleep on his connecting flight to London.

Overall: A+++ experience. Can't wait to witness something like that again  ok  ok  beer
