Our great American companies are hereby ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative to China, including bringing your companies HOME and making your products in the USA

So, for the conservatives who grouse about socialism, THE ABOVE IS ACTUAL SOCIALISM!  This is Trump trying to enact direct government control of industry, and the free market. Ordering companies to find an alternative to China? ORDERING?

Un-freaking-real.

You silly!

It's only socialism when the Democrats do something.

When he does it, it's ..... Something else!

If Trump isn't careful he is going to usher in a recession himself with all of the uncertainty regarding the US/China trade war. We dont seem to have a clear policy.  I think with all things considered, it would be a good idea if we lessen our reliance on China, but that really needs to be up to the free market and not a decree by Trump.

A one term congressman from Illinois with no accomplishments to speak of ( but he has a radio show).  I dont think it will amount to much.

You're saying it's a fresh perspective from someone who's not part of the swamp that's being drained?

Sounds like a real threat!

I have no idea if he is a swamp creature or not, Walsh has no name ID. Most people will  think he wrote Rocky Mountain way.  hihi

Now if, say Kasich ran against Trump in a primary that scenario would be very interesting and taken more seriously.

Some neocons r planning to run against, and take down, Trump in 2020. Could get interesting. Part of me hope it happens. Would love to see trump destroy the republican party. Time get rid of some lifers that r corrupt as hell. Just wish liberals would think the same way.

joe walsh is the best bill kristol and the rest of the scum bag neocons could come up with??? Thats hilarious. Cant wait to see Trump embarrass and expose them once again.

The lack of millions being made through unnecessary wars is driving some very powerful people crazy on both sides of the aisle.

Can't say I'm a fan of the guy after reading a little about him... But he's not wrong about everything he said.

In terms of who ultimately gets nominated?

Probably not.

But it does mean there will be Republican primaries (if Walsh actually sticks with it til then), and he won't be completely uncontested.

I mean, isn't that what conspiracy is?  So, to the broader question you're asking: Yes.  To some extent you can.  And this is clearly more than a thought experiment.  It's a serious suggestion by Trump.

In fact, what Congress should do is advise the president that holding the G7 at one of his properties would be a violation.

And then, after that warning, if he does it anyway, move to impeach.

Because this would CLEARLY be a violation of that tenet.

No?

Trump says he's going to ignore the climate session at the G7, then ignores the climate session, and then the press secretary lies about why, saying Trump was in bilaterials with the leaders of India and Germany.

Who were plainly and obviously sitting in the climate session.

All while the Amazon burns.

If he actually goes forward with it then there may be something to look into.  But getting Congress involved due to a suggestion is a waste of time, we have a few more pressing issues facing us than that....

Might? Emoluments means exactly to profit. He would be profiting off foreign heads of state. He owns the resort. If the G7 takes place there his business profits which means he does. This is not rocket science.

Not "may be".  A clear violation of the tenet.

So, instead of issuing the president an advisory, you'd rather just jump right to impeachment when he commits the crime.

Fair enough.

And I agree, we have other issues to address.  Good thing this House has proven to be adept at walking and chewing gum at the same time.

As the ever expanding list of passed legislation I posted pages ago showed.....now if we could just get the Senate to actually take any of it up and vote on it.

But #moscowmitch will never allow that.

So, given that, it seems like the House has plenty of time to issue an advisory (or articles of impeachment) since the Senate has decided to simply be obstructionists....which is all Repubs have managed to do over the past decade.
