GN'R & AC/DC to Tour Together, Manager Says

Early Guns N' Roses manager Vicky Hamilton dropped a pretty big story on Let There Be Talk podcast, saying that AC/DC and GN'R will reportedly embark on a tour together with Axl pulling a double duty. She said:

"I heard [Axl] said that he's going on tour with Guns N' Roses, and AC/DC is gonna open. And he's gonna sing both sets. I'm like, OK..."

Asked on how she feels about Rose singing in AC/DC, Vicky replied:

"I think it's cool, he sounds pretty good. He's pulling it off and I think he's happy, making one of his childhood dreams come true."

Guns N' Roses will kick off their tour on June 23 and trek across North America until August 22. So far, confirmed opening acts include Chris Stapleton for one show, Billy Talent for one show, Skrillex for one gig, The Cult for four concerts, Alice in Chains for five gigs, and Lenny Kravitz for four shows. At the moment, nine dates remain free of opening acts... As for Axl/DC, AC/DC and Axl will rock the States between August 27 and September 20. After that, both bands' schedules are open...

During the rest of the chat, Vicky briefly touched on classic GN'R drummer Steven Adler, saying she heard that the back injury he recently suffered will keep him unable to tour for four months. Adler was filmed jamming "Paradise City" only three days ago, sparking rumors about joining the band on the road after all.

Why in the world does anyone talk to this crazy person?

If I have to hear her talking about how Axl couldn't find his contacts one more time...

I'm pretty sure AC/DC wouldn't open for GN'R.

Of all the people who get asked questions still about 1987 .. she is by far the most cringeworthy.

Agreed.  She makes Canter seem like a delight.

The biggest question here is the most obvious one.  Why the hell would AC/DC ever do this?

The same manager that said that Slash told her the reunion rumours were a lie? Bullshit rofl rofl

Tough it would be awesome if she really talked to Axl and he told her that he would sing both sets just to troll her beer

First off, AC/DC opening for GN'R? No.

Second, Axl singing for 5 hours each night? No.

I came in looking for the report/comment from Beta or Fernando.

And I got a comment by a somewhat unstable, LONG "ex", manager who's recent comments have proven there was a VERY good reason the "ex" is prefixed on her relationship with the band.

I feel like this whole thread should have a link to that "new" song by Meghan Trainor.

There's no reason that given the enormity of the bands, that a 3 to 3 1/2  hour double bill couldn't happen. Take out the covers and the Guns set goes down to about 2:15. Then take out TIL, YCBM and Patience and you are down to about 1:50 and with the change in between, Axl get his rest between sets.

Follow the money, Axl has frequently done 2:45 - 3:30 shows, and having done AXL/DC tour, knows that he can do these songs well, plus we know he's keen to do more with Angus, I'd rate the rumour probability at 80-90%  ok

Then there's the ticket value, 2 and 3 night stadium dates x god knows how many dates, then you are looking at serious wedge.  One other factor to consider, Axl has in the main won over the AC/DC community and from people I've spoken too, all have said they'd jump at the chance to see their latest line-up again.

Axl wouldn't even be able to get insured for a performance that long at his age. In fact, no one would at any age.

they are propably goin to install a small break between the two  sets to conserve his voice

First off, AC/DC opening for GN'R? No.

Second, Axl singing for 5 hours each night? No.

POSSIBLE scenario how/why AC/DC would open for GNR:

Axl's stint in AC/DC has been and is all about Axl being one of those ... ummm, what do you call them??... oh I remember... Axl's a GOOD PERSON!!!

Axl joined AC/DC to help them and their fans out when Brian couldn't continue.  As I had previously stated somewhere in another thread, Axl is probably one of the very few frontmen who could step into such an iconic band and not only succeed but also make it his own AND MORE IMPORTANTLY be able to handle the scrutiny of all the haters n' doubters n' critics!!!

Another point I had made in that other thread was that Axl (being that good person thing) would be the perfect conduit between Brian and whoever might be his permanent replacement.  Axl has already taken on and conquered the haters n' doubters so as to make the transition easier for the next person.

So now Axl is in a position to give AC/DC an opportunity to audition or transition in another singer by allowing AC/DC to open at some of the shows on the stadium tour and without having to do 5 hour double-duty himself.

I don't think there's too many people in this world who would step in to a situation despite knowing they're going to face the extent of the scrutiny Axl did by joining/helping AC/DC and then to also provide the means n' support for them to continue on and move forward.

IMO, it takes a really good person to do that.  Smiley
