According to this local newspaper (in Danish!), GN'R were rehearsing on stage last night. If you take a close look at the pictures you should be able to recognize a couple of the band members. I really hope they keep Slither in the setlist and polish it up more, hoping for Shadow of Your Love tonight too. I think the band should think of possibly bringing in another song from Spaghetti. I Don’t Care About You would be great fun to perform live and nobody could criticize Axl’s vocals on that one. Ain’t it Fun or Down on the Farm. I think it’s an underrated album, I always loved it. The songs aren’t too complicated and I’d take any of them over Witchita Lineman (I do love Glen Campbell version). Anyway great to have the boys back on the road 🤘🏻 ..and girl 🤫

I still would like to see him usin' his low voice for Slither. I can imagine it and in my head sounds much better. I'm not a big fan of the voice he uses on the chorus (that Mickey Mouse voice that some people hate)

Much better show tonight but Axl needs to step it up on Slither. He was good on Shadow.

The problem is that his falsetto is so much quieter than his lower register, that it's a stark contrast within the same song. His vocals in the chorus are actually right on key, and it's the verses that are off key. Which is why I find it funny people are praising the verses and hating the chorus. I do think he'd be better off doing the chorus in his lower register only because it would be more audible, but still maintaining his new melody for it. Unless his falsetto really strengthens, I fear it won't sound much better over time, except working out the lyrics and verse melody. And at this point, I doubt he'll change his approach to the song drastically. I was hoping he'd do Black Hole Sun in a lower register but he never changed that.

I think Slither is going to get better and better (assuming it sticks around) as Axl plays with it, vocally, and get's more comfortable with it.  He'll find a vocal pattern that will work, and then he'll start to slay it.  Remember: This isn't like Jungle, which he's sang a million times in studio and on stage.  I expect some growing pains and the improvement (and changes) from the first go to this one are remarkable!

Spot on. Not surprised either. 1) Axl has shown with NITL that he can turn out a vintage mid-80s vocal performance at any moment, and 2) in the AC/DC tour he’s shown he can use that voice for songs that have almost nonstop high register vocals, eg, Whole Lotta Rosie, Let There Be Rock. There is a point during this last version of Slither after the Slash solo where Axl comes in with that register we seemed to first hear live on Better during the Apollo show... if he did that for the whole song it would be spot on... but he may also kill his voice..

Slight correction: GNR did play "Shadow of Your Love" live in 1987.  They played it on June 22, 1987 in London.
