I imagine people will be arriving at the festival now, so thought I'd start the updates thread a little early.

It's normally Sky arts. Previous years were very well filmed.

This would be such an iconic show to be filmed and released! Maybe the only European festival that's worth capturing especially for Guns. Kind of coming full circle since they played this for the first time in 88 or 89. But probably won't be filmed, so looking forward to some lousy youtube videos.

I have to agree that i prefer seeing GNR headline their own show rather than a festival.
Allthought i enjoyed Danko Jones and Skunk Anasie that day.

What's going on with having the headliner playing in broad daylight? By far the show is not as cool as would be in the night.

I saw some filming crew, on the streams, we might get some pro-shots out of this. Fingers crossed for more than just a couple of songs.

He introduced Slash as "your fellow Englishman"
I might have just missed it but I didn't hear him actually say "Slash"

Hell, Axl could use the same vocal tracks and do nothing while Slash and Duff re-record their parts and the band adds the intro.

Just found a better quality version of Slither:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drMfD_NydfM

Read elsewhere that it was the song that got the biggest response from the crowd....

EDIT: This version is really good compared to Berlin.

I'd rather a quick thread for every show (or relevant topic) with meaningful content than 6000 people chiming in just to up their comment count and start fights.

"Slither" sounded great, and was great that the crowd was into it. I always thought it was a killer track, despite lukewarm feelings on Velvet Revolver as a whole. It was always one of those "This could be a GnR song" feeling tracks. Nice addition to the set, and getting better with each show.

In what way does it sound like it could have been GNR? Even with Axl singing, it still does not sound like that.

I do hear some GN'R in it. I think because it's an existing song it's easy to just imagine Scott/VR and not hear the GN'R bits. But more than many VR tracks, they're in there.

Still not a huge VR fan though I have the first album

If anything, I'd say Dirty Little Thing was the closest to a Guns track, it was a lot like Garden of Eden (but better IMO).

Any ideas when they might air some clips? I thought it would be live.

Sky Arts in UK are showing 2 highlights shows next Friday 29th and Saturday night 9pm till 12. The details don’t mention GnR though so no idea if they’ll show anything. Reckon maybe a couple of songs.

They only showed 2 songs in 6 hours worth of coverage. It’s So Easy and Jungle. Brilliant to see some pro footage though.

Coverage was pretty awful. Great to see some pro-shot stuff but the sound was all over the place for GNR and a few of the other bands over the 2 shows.
