A rumour is doing the rounds that a leak has suggested GNR are playing at the Louder Than Life Festival in Kentucky in September.

I think it's based on this: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2163062487062564&id=289072954461536&anchor_composer=false and personally, I'm very doubtful it's genuine, but thought I'd throw it up on here anyway......

Saw that rumor.  Pretty exciting to have the band back on the road, you know, if it's true.

I second this. So now there is no need for new music. There is no way in hell that any new material would suddenly come up in some festival gig.

I'm not excited to have the band back on the road if it means this.

I first heard Maddie and The Blues at RIR 2001.  New music at a festival has already been done.  Could happen again if they are doing a warm up gig here for RIR 2019.

At least there's a reaction

« Reply #5 on: March 31, 2019, 03:49:20 PM »

2 ways I look at it

1) agree - rather hear a new album than have them play another festival
2) At least if they are still rocking out live somewhere - they are together and the possibility of new music can come from them being connected again
(I stress "possibility" because choosing to be optimistic)

I don't see one festival date interfering with a (theoretical) album release.

Probably or possibly it doesn't but if they start touring again they just might go on for couple of years with the same setlist.

Nothing interferes with releasing an album...except actually wanting to do it.

If we want to keep Slash from roaming off on his own, GNR has to book tours to keep him.

Not wrong. Unfortunately GNR are notorious for not being able to do both at the same time.

When will they announce the line up for this festival?
If it is true, I doubt it will be a one time thing ; they will definitely add more dates in the US.

We need to keep in mind that both Slash and Duff have said that the new album will happen when it happens. Slash is touring. Duff just released an album. In other words a new GNR release is not imminent. In fact, it seems clear (to me) that a new GNR album is not the priority now. Thus, playing at one or more festivals probably is going to have limited impact on the timeline.

I think we are back to the "live your lives" situation from the early 2000s.

Patience.

Both of them are using the same mantra about new GnR material to garner attention for their own albums it's a good marketing ploy any news feeds about them in the last few months is about Guns releasing a new album not about their own solo stuff ,fair enough the media are probably constantly asking them about it and it's a good headline grabber but as far as them working to a specific timeline or with a producer it's not factual to say its gonna happen. Can't see them doing a one off festival it would need to be part of a tour or a few shows and it looks like Slash and Duff are booked up for the year unless Axl gets DJ Ashba and co back on board .

Well there we go. Back on the road again.

I think we might be very far away from any new material now.

To be honest since I'm moving to the U.S next month I'm really excited about the prospect of a US tour in the fall lol Grin  We all want new music but you know, they are in their mid 50s, they won't be touring FOREVER; personally I 'd like to attend as many shows as possible. I hope they add shows in other cities but p-l-e-a-s-e NOT festivals!

Yeah, how does "forever" grab ya?

Still think it's good they are doing this though.
