I didn't notice before, but with the better quality videos coming out, I notice he only used that lower register for the first verse. Why would he not just use that for every verse? He sounded so strong there and then the following verses were barely audible with that weak other register...

Possibly experimenting a bit to see what works. Hopefully they stick with it so Axl can find his sweet spot. Apparently he was a little agitated after that performance so let's hope that's not the last time they play it. Tongue

Looks like he might've been having some technical difficulty maybe, you  can see in the video just after the 5:30 mark he is using the talkback input to talk to either the band or sound crew.
