I wish they'd just flood the market with all the pro-shot stuff they're sitting on.

What stuff?

The Ritz show that is included in the box set was shot on film. So it makes sense to transfer it and release it.

Are you sure every show was shot on film and is available in a quality that can be released?

The shows that we have, Paris, Tokyo, Rock In Rio and the upcoming release of the New York footage, were all filmed for either release or TV.... Doesn't necessarily mean every other show is available in that quality.

/jarmo

The various UYI shows that have been floating around unofficially for ages. Noblesville '91 for example. The quality of those recordings is pretty damn good as is, and I'm sure the source material is even better and could be cleaned up for some sort of an official release. Or don't clean it up, just release it. Even if just online like Metallica does.

This is assuming GNR owns or has access to those recordings. I actually have no idea where they originally leaked from.

Got both 2cd Deluxes yesterday via my local record shop

The remaster seems pretty standard more compression and bass boost.

Will give more thoughts later but the new writing credits are a surprise.
For example My World is a Stradlin/Slash/McKagan/Rose Composition. And Sorum gets a credit for Dust N' Bones.

Also i spotted a mistake on the Credits. The Rio 1991 KOHD credits Teddy Andreadis, Roberta Freeman and Traci Amos as additional musicians. But they joined the band 11 months later.

Only had time to listen to UYI 1 the live tracks especially London 1991 are a treat. Bad Apples too. And the Ritz and Vegas shows seem very promising.

Gonna be getting the super deluxe boxset as a christmas present from my aunt. I plan to get the deluxe version too at some point for the additional songs on it that are not on the super deluxe.

Yeah, it's weird, you could hear him okay in the intro where he's out of sync with Slash, but then he just gets totally lost. I wonder if he just had his amp turned down intentionally, because why else couldn't they mix him louder?

Didn't someone (Axl? Slash?) talk about this?  That they had a tech on hand that would turn Izzy down in the mix because he was so fucked up he couldn't keep time, never mind play his parts correctly?

Axl n Slash talked about this, reffering to 1993 5 shows (Tel Aviv, Athens, Instabul, 2 Milton Keynes shows) where Izzy replaced Gilby temporarily.

Those 5 shows, Axl said that a roadie was turning down Izzy's amp, then Izzy would turn it up again and this was kept going over and over during the show  Grin Grin

So, FYI: Spotify has all of it available, including bonus material.  This includes the Super Deluxe version (with both albums and all bonus tracks...just no Blu-Ray, obviously) and the Deluxe versions of UYI1 and UYI2.  This makes for pretty easy (if lossy) digital listening for Spotify subs.

Listened to the whole Las Vegas show already.  It's tremendous.

This was one that never got out in bootleg circles in 30 years.  Not even a shitty version.

Things that struck me is how happy the band is this night.  Not sure I've ever heard Slash talk so much.  And even Axl seems in good cheer.  And, let's face it...early 1992 Axl Rose was not known for his good cheer.

Interesting that Gilby got almost no credits on Live Era, but Izzy was everywhere in the booklet. Now it's the other way around. Pics of Gilby everywhere, and no signs of him being an "additional musician".

Also, funny that spotify now have both versions of Nightrain from Las Vegas.

Overall, a great super deluxe box set, but still too expensive.

It is definitely too expensive, but I'm not sure by how much. If you are up the price of the average CD and Blu-ray it would certainly be over $100 for 7 CDs and a Blu-ray. I don't think the memorabilia is worth over $100 on top of that though. You can get it cheaper through Amazon, Target or Walmart. They have it for $203

Apparantly, Japan gets bonus tracks on the deluxe editions.
UYI 1: Live and let die and Don't Cry from Tokyo
UYI 2: Pretty tied up and You Could Be Mine from Tokyo.

On super deluxe Don't Cry, Live and let die and Civil war from Yokyo seems to be extra tracks.

That's what google translate says when I translate från cdjapan.co.jp

Do you think it's the same as from the Tokyo DVDs?

All versions get SHM-CDs

Has anyone here found more difference in what tracks is included?

Got the deluxe version of UYI II on CD what's with the ghosting of Izzy and Matt they played a big part in the recording of those albums particularly Izzy who wrote a lot of the songs most of the images are of Axl,Slash and Duff , I know both left the band a long time ago but surely they shouldn't be whitewashed out of history because the singer is a bit eccentric and holds grudges against anyone that he feels challenged his leadership or walked away from the band because of his crazy behaviour during that time.
