Velvet Revolver's "Contraband" was named album of the year by UK's Classic Rock magazine:
1. Velvet Revolver - Contraband
After misfires like Slash's Snakepit and Duff McKagan's short-lived Loaded, people were wary of getting too excited about Velvet Revolver. Would they produce an album to do the legacy of Guns proud? Or would it just be another under-achieving and short-lived side project? After half a year of being unable to take it off our stereo, we know what we think. Rockers like 'Slither' and 'Set Me Free' were the perfect mix of Guns and grunge with a ballsy nu-metal production. After you finished playing 'Contraband', everything else sounded lame. Which meant you had to play it again...
Tommy Stinson's "Village Gorilla Head" was 19th on the list and they said Axl may struggle to better it. |
