GN'R ad in the Village Voice + Info on Robin's solo at Rock In Rio
In the new issue of the Village Voice, that came out today, there's a full page add for GNR.

It says:

GUNS N' ROSES
WOULD LIKE TO THANK
THE PEOPLE OF
NEW YORK
FOR 4 AMAZING NIGHTS!
MAY 12, 14, 15 & 17
HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM.

Anybody who's curious about origin of the first solo Robin played before "Sweet Child O' Mine" keep reading.

The solo is part of the symphonic poem "Finlandia" by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.

The solo is actually from the part called the "Finlandia Hymn".

Joan Baez performed an acapella version, which uses lyrics written by Lloyd Stone, of it and it's available on her "Bowery Songs" album. This version was the inspiration for the solo. It has the line "A song of peace for lands afar and mine" in the lyrics.

A very fitting solo.
