Slash laid down some guitar licks on Widget frontman Tyler Bates' upcoming score for Rated X in a Los Angeles recording studio on Friday (Dec. 10). Bates' score mixes Indian percussion and folk guitar with unconventional atmospheric sound design.
The film, directed by and starring Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen, tells story of the lives of porn kings Jim and Artie Mitchell throughout the '60s, '70s, and '80s. The brothers owned the O'Farrell Theater in San Francisco, where they debuted Behind the Green Door, one of the most famous porn films in history.
Rated X, produced by Showtime, will debut at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 25. Bates was the former guitarist in Pet and has done over 20 films scores, including the spoof, I Know What You Screamed Last Summer.
In other Slash news, a stature of the guitarist is currently on display in the Rebels section in New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art's "Rock Style" exhibit (allstar, Dec. 7).
