Today (April 24th 2002) the promotor Creativeman published their official announcement about GN'R performing in Japan this summer.

This two day festival is held at two different locations on August 17th (Saturday) and 18th (Sunday). One is in Tokyo and the other is in Osaka.

GN'R will play two shows in Japan, Tokyo and Osaka. But it's not confirmed which day they do in Tokyo/Osaka yet. Keep your eyes open.
