Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« on: August 03, 2006, 07:30:51 PM »

I just want to talk about his musical career, especially in the 80's when he was at his peak.
I just choose 5 videos, Thriller, Billie jean, Beat it, Bad and Dirty Diana... this is just fucking geniious. Anyone around here who was old enough at the time? (I remember but I was very young) It must have been phenomenal to "live" this erea when he was on Top of the music world and to be old enough to realize how great he was... I suppose it was very impressive!

EVH and Slash are about the only genious things about his music  hihi

To be fair the early stuff was cool, for pop music.  But I heard on some tv programme or something he got some bloke from Grimsby to write half of his major hits, and that place is a S-H-I-T-H-O-L-E  nervous

I agree. He had a "spark" of genius. His 3 album run of Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad was incredible. His slide began after that. His album in 1991(I forgot the name) had a couple hits(one of my fave MJ songs 'Remember the Time), but his career was never the same. Funny how he became obsessed with wanting to top Thriller. If so, why didn't he take years off and try and create something spectacular instead of putting out complete shit every few years.

It's amazing to think how well respected he would have been by now if it weren't for all the weird things he has done-some of you might be too young-I was in 5th or 6th grade when Thriller hit big-he was huge-my Grandmother even liked him-I really can't describe how big he was-maybe someone on the board 30 + can remember-this was when MTV really started off-a lot of his older music was great-Billy Jean, of course-it's really a shame to see what kind of a joke he has become

I used to think he was pretty cool musically speaking but now I'm afraid I cant think about him without thinking 'perv'.

Sadly, that's my feeling too.  I grew up listening to his songs, and it's hard to walk away from that.

I like his live cover of the Beatles' Come Together.  One of the kids sitting to the right of the stage is none other than Sean Lennon.

Michael Jackson is (was?) a huge star and one of the most talented artists ever.
I was a big fan of his. His decadence makes me sad.

I dont know if you are a Soundgarden fan, but if you want to hear a band truly "own" that song and make it their own, check your PM box. Its an excellent quality demo.

I'm a massive Michael Jackson fan.

Although I love 'Thriller', my favourite album is 'Dangerous'. A lot of people aren't huge fans, but there are some amazing songs on that album - Jam, Remember The Time, Heal The World, Keep It In The Closet, Black or White, Give In To Me, Who Is It to name a few.

I was 12 in 1996 when my parents took me to see him in concert in Melbourne. Still to this day it's the best concert I've ever been to. I just remember the stage being completely black and he walked out with the spotlight on him, head down, hat on. He was carrying a briefcase, placed it on the table, pulled out a glove and went straight into Billy Jean. People went crazyyy and I'll never forget it.

yes, you should be a comedian

comedians tell jokes, and theres nothing funny about micheal jackson and his diddling of little boys-

OJ simpson is a murderer- and micheal jackson is a molester-
