If they were to win a Lifetime Acheivement Award, it would be for:

Having the Longest Career with the Least Talent hihi
Shut up asshole! Go spam some other board. Let's hear what you have to offer musically.

Dude, settle down, he's absolutely right. Their song structure and musical playing ability are pretty minimal. Aside from maybe some "3 chord punk" bands... but not many of them have had very long careers.

And what was up with the merchandising. What a joke, the laughingstock of the late 70's. Nice movie KISS, have you saved outerspace yet??

KissKollector.com has issued the following update:

"After the announcement of a surprise guitarist to join the all star band that will pay tribute to KISS in Las Vegas tonight for 'VH1 Rock Honors' by playing 'God Of Thunder' on the show, rumors went all over the place about who this might be. Apart from several other famous axe slingers, Ace Frehley has (obviously) been mentioned often in these rumors. Well, it's pretty save now to place your bets on the original Spaceman indeed, as Ace has meanwhile been spotted in Las Vegas."

"VH1 Rock Honors" is the first-ever show to pay homage to the legends who influenced the sound of hard rock. This year's celebration will honor the music and influence of JUDAS PRIEST, KISS, QUEEN and DEF LEPPARD. Premiering on Wednesday, May 31 at 9:00 p.m., "VH1 Rock Honors" will be taped at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Thursday, May 25 and will include performances by all of the honorees as well as tribute performances by GODSMACK, FOO FIGHTERS (who will be paying tribute to QUEEN) and THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS (DEF LEPPARD). Riki Rachtman will serve as backstage announcer.

As previously reported, an all-star band consisting of Rob Zombie (vocals), Slash (guitar; VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES), Tommy Lee (drums; M?TLEY CR?E), and Scott Ian (bass ? yes, bass; ANTHRAX) ? plus a "special-surprise" second guitarist ? will be performing the song "God of Thunder" as a tribute to KISS.

"VH1 Rock Honors" setlist ? May 25, 2006 at Mandalay Bay Events Center - Las Vegas, NV:

QUEEN:

01. Under Pressure
02. The Show Must Go On
03. We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions

GODSMACK:

01. Medley: The Hellion / Electric Eye / Victim Of Changes / Hell Bent For Leather

JUDAS PRIEST:

01. Breakin' The Law
02. You've Got Another Thing Comin'
03. The Green Manalishi (with the Two Pronged Crown)

THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS:

01. Photograph

DEF LEPPARD:

01. Rock Of Ages
02. Rocket
03. 20th Century Boy

All-Star Band featuring Rob Zombie, Ace Frehley, Slash, Gilby Clarke, Scott Ian, Tommy Lee:

01. God Of Thunder

KISS:

01. Detroit Rock City
02. Deuce
03. Love Gun
04. Makin' Love

Highlights, according to a BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor:

* FOO FIGHTERS: AMAZING
* Seeing Ace hug Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley (it won't be long now)
* DEF LEPPARD: Their set was suprisingly good.
* Vince Neil's old lady falling flat on her face.

Lowlights:

* THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS (Wow, I didn't know a group could be so bland)
* Rob Zombie coming in too early on "God of Thunder", just as the solo switched from Ace to Slash.
* What the fuck is going on with Rick Savage? Is it bad plastic surgery or what?
* $7.50 for a Sam Adams.
Surreal Moment of the Evening:

Towards the end of the KISS set (but before "Makin' Love" was played), all of the honorees were brought out for a final bow. At one point Ace was next to Tommy Thayer (in the Spaceman makeup). It was really strange...

KISS frontman Paul Stanley has commented on "VH1 Rock Honors", the first-ever show to pay homage to the legends who influenced the sound of hard rock. This year's celebration honors the music and influence of JUDAS PRIEST, KISS, QUEEN and DEF LEPPARD.

Commented Stanley: "The atmosphere between the bands was all smiles and hugs. It was so relaxed and everyone was really happy and excited to see each other and play together. We all had stories to tell each other and catching up to do. I thought all the bands' performances left no doubt why they were being honored. There was actually talk among some of us of touring together! I have to say the best was seeing Ace. It was like being with family. He's a wonderful guy to be around. He's healthy, looks great and is playing really great. I'm very happy and proud to see him this way. It couldn't have been warmer or more upbeat between all of us. Of course he belonged there with us and I was so glad he wanted to be there! Also, him playing 'God of Thunder' with Rob, Slash, Tommy, Scott and Gilby...How cool is that? We spent a lot of time together at the show and the after-party. It couldn't have been more positive all around. He told me how great we sounded and how wild it was to be able to see KISS without being up there. We took lots of photos together and laughed a whole lot. An awesome night!"

If you're talking about Peter and Ace, you're talking about the kind of personalities that are so peculiar you wouldn't know if they were high or not.

yes, and your personality is completely normal and straight-laced, isn't it, Mr. Simmons?

Quote
Even when he was straight, Ace was unable to walk in a straight line. Also, he naturally talks in a slurred way. He was no different when he was high. He had a strange sense of humor, too. He'd be coming out with stuff like, 'Hey, I fucked an alien last night.'

Mmmm hmmm.? In contrast to the completely normal sense of humor you have, Mr. Simmons.? What was that you said at the Rock Honors?? That you wanted to be God of your new religion, Kisstianity?? (insert eye-rolling, tongue wagging here)

Quote
He is, without doubt, the laziest, most self-destructive person I've ever met.

and Ace is also, without a doubt, the greatest guitar player you have worked and will ever work with, Gene-o.? Your career got pretty damn far on the coat tails of Ace's incredible solos and licks.

Commented Stanley: "I have to say the best was seeing Ace. It was like being with family. He's a wonderful guy to be around. He's healthy, looks great and is playing really great. ahhh Mr. Stanley, Thank goodness you are down to earth towards your brother in life, and that you realize Ace's greatness.? too bad some of your goodwill towards (space)men doesnt rub off on your groupie mongering bass player.

KISS' official web site, KissOnline.com, has been updated with part two of a brand new interview with KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons. It is reproduced here in its entirety:

KissOnline.com: With so many band member changes over KISS' career, why do you think both you and Paul [Stanley] have always stuck it out and remained in the band?

Gene: "Quite honestly, Paul and I don't always agree on musical changes, or choice of songs, but intrinsically and at the heart of it, Paul is simply the brother I never had. I feel closer to Paul than anyone I know. I have almost no friends. On purpose. I prefer acquaintances. I don't expect anything from anyone and I don't want anyone coming to me with their problems. Everyone is a grown up. But, I digress. Paul and I live very close to each other and we don't see each other often. But, at the end, he knows I will always be in his corner, simply because I respect him."

KissOnline.com: Tommy Thayer has been with KISS in one way or another for many years now. How do you view his many years with the band?

Gene: "Tommy Thayer has been a thorough professional from day one. He has: brought us our coffee, helped me put together the 'KISStory' books, helped me put together the KISS conventions, has been our road manager, co-wrote songs with us, helped Ace [Frehley] re-learn his solos, taught Peter [Criss] his drum arrangements and has literally done anything that was asked of him without ever complaining. I have to say it's an absolute pleasure to share the stage with Tommy. I hear the solos Ace created, played spot-on. With feeling. Tommy is great."

KissOnline.com: Why did you bring Peter Criss back for the symphony show and AEROSMITH tour after replacing him with Eric Singer in 2001?

Gene: "The recurring Peter issues were always, in my mind, about Peter. We love him and it's never been easy. Not from day one. Peter came back into the band in the Reunion Tour and unfortunately eventually either left or was asked to leave. He was asked to come to Australia with us and he refused unless we changed the deal we had all agreed to. This happened often. We went to Australia with Ace and without Peter. It was a huge success. Then Ace went and Peter came back in. But that didn't last long. My personal opinion is that Peter is happier now, outside of KISS. And, I wouldn't have it any other way. He deserves to be happy."

KissOnline.com: Which KISS album are you most proud of and which KISS album are you the least proud of? Why?

Gene: "I suppose the album I liked least is 'Unmasked'. There were a few tunes I didn't mind, but the band by that time had lost its way. Peter didn't play on almost the entire album. He left or was asked to leave (take your pick) for health reasons and Anton Fig secretly played drums in his place. And I was as guilty as anyone. I was the one who kept insisting on the cover design concept and the title. In retrospect, a big mistake.

"My fave album is either 'Creatures of the Night', 'Revenge' or 'Destroyer'... for obvious reasons. Decent tunes and good playing. Interestingly enough, three albums from three different decades of our history ('70s, '80s and '90s), with different lineups."

KissOnline.com: Your solo album was a mixed bag and many fans were disappointed because they know how great you can be. What does it take to get Gene Simmons to be the brilliant Demon like on "Creatures of the Night" and "Revenge"?

Gene: "'Asshole', my solo album was not made for the fans who wanted 'Creatures' and 'Revenge'. It was made for me. I knew the tunes would turn off lots of fans. Tough. It's my turn. I have, literally hundreds of songs lying around that KISS can never record and I don't intend on leaving them on the shelf. They will all come out. Soon."

KissOnline.com: When people like [Carlos] Santana rip KISS, why do you always take the middle ground and make nice? Why don't you stand up and defend KISS and the KISS Army like millions of us do every day?

Gene: "I have no animosity towards any other group that slams KISS. It simply may not be their cup of tea. Santana and everyone else can say what they like. KISS is impenetrable. And, in the great tradition of put your money where your mouth is, Carlos is welcome to share the stage with us any time. We would be happy to show him how the big boys do it."

KissOnline.com: Gene, you've done it all but if you could do anything one thing differently in your KISS career, what would it be?

Gene: "If I could have done it differently, I would have stopped trying to figure out how to be 'pretty' during the '80s and just stick to being one, hairy stinky animal...which is what I am. That's what I do and that's what I sell."

On July 26, KISS will play the 1,300-seat theater at the Chumash Casino Resort, the hottest new Casino in California!

Much like the Palms show back in 2003, the intimate, no-frills concert will allow KISS to flex its musical muscle! "It's a chance for us to just show people who and what we are musically," stated Gene Simmons.

Paul Stanley added, "We just couldn't pass up an opportunity where we could play such a cool intimate show. This will be a lot of fun especially right after playing the big festivals in Japan!"

Tickets for the 8 p.m. show go on sale Monday, June 26 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern. Tickets are priced from $155.00 to $235.00 and will be available by visiting the Chumash Casino Resort Box Office or by calling StarTicketsPlus at 1-800-585-3737.

The Chumash Casino Resort is located in Santa Barbara County, California, between Los Angeles and San Francisco, in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley wine country. Visit their website at www.chumashcasino.com for directions and other info on the Resort.

KISS' official web site, KissOnline.com, has been updated with the following report:

KISS just rocked Nagoya's Rainbow Hall, tearing through a set list which included the first ever Japanese performance of "Love 'Em and Leave 'Em" and several other classics not played on their 2004 visit to Japan, including "Black Diamond" with Eric Singer on lead vocals. Tommy Thayer played a new Silver Gibson Les Paul guitar and Paul Stanley played Washburn guitars throughout the show. Gene Simmons breathed fire during "Firehouse" and spit blood and flew during "God of Thunder" while Paul flew out to the soundboard area of the arena and sang "I Was Made For Lovin' You" surrounded by a sea of arms in air! The audience was extremely responsive and energetic tonight, singing and clapping throughout the show. KISS fans from all over Japan as well as fans from the U.S., Australia, Brazil, Sweden, Norway, the UK, Germany and Italy attended the show. Paul sang the Japanese song "Sukiyaki" and told the crowd on several occasions that he loved to see KISS' Japanese friends, fans and family! Judging from the crowd's response tonight, the feeling is mutual!

The Nagoya setlist included:

01. Detroit Rock City
02. Makin' Love
03. Watchin' You
04. King Of the Night Time World
05. Christine 16
06. Firehouse
07. Got to Choose

11. God Of Thunder
12. Do You Love Me
13. Black Diamond
14. Let Me Go Rock and Roll

KISS just finished rockin' the Fuji Speedway! Tonight's crowd was easily the most intense of the tour and KISS responded to the crowd in a big way, delivering an energenic, powerful set that ended their short Japanese Tour on a high note! Sebastian Bach, the Foo Fighter's Taylor Hawkins as well as members of Alice In Chains and the Click Five were rocking away in the pit during the show. Paul had a slight mishap tonight when he flew during "I Was Made For Loving' You". First he almost over shot the platform and then was actually stuck on the platform while a crew member worked to get the flying rig to Paul. The band never misseed a beat though and extended the song a little until Paul was back on the main stage. The band also played "Lick It Up" tonight!

Set List:

Detroit Rock City
Makin' Love
Watchin' You
King of the Nighttime World
Deuce
Christine Sixteen
Firehouse
Got To Choose
Strutter
Lick It Up
I Love It Loud
Love Gun
God of Thunder
Do You Love Me
Shout It Out Loud
I Was Made For Lovin' You
Black Diamond
Let Me Go, Rock & Roll

KISS frontman Paul Stanley has finalized the track listing for his first non-KISS release since his self-titled 1978 album (issued in tandem with solo projects from the other three original KISS members). The album, entitled "Live to Win", is scheduled for release in October via Universal Music. The CD features contributions from session drummer Victor Indrizzo, guitarist Corky James, former MARILYN MANSON and current ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5, former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick (who plays bass on a few songs) and noted string arranger David Campbell.

"Live to Win" track listing:

01. Live To Win [3:10]
02. Wake Up Screaming [3:04]
03. Lift [4:03]
04. Every Time I See You Around [3:30]
05. Bulletproof [3:03]
06. All About You [3:18]
07. Second To None [3:39]
08. It's Not Me [3:22]
09. Loving You Without You [3:19]
10. Where Angels Dare [3:23]

In a February 2006 interview with ABC News, Stanley revealed that he is planning a tour to support the CD, and said he'll be bringing out a bigger band than he's used at past solo gigs, "because there's a lot more going on on this album." He estimated he'll have about six people in his band. As for the musicians he used during the recording of "Live to Win", Stanley said, "[It's] some friends of mine ? it's not a 'who's who.' I didn't want to do one of those albums where you list people and it becomes some sort of a, trying to impress everybody with names. So it's a great album. Everybody loves it."
