i think it's a decent album.

if it was a Guns N'Roses album, i'll be probably less indulgent.
but contraband is a mediocre album to me, and on this one slash
is much better, and the songs are more exciting.

i give it a 6/10

What i really like is it seems everyone has a different track as there favorite. Mine at the moment is Mary,Mary.

All in all a great album.

Libertad and the new Foo Fighter disk to be released in September are about the only disks i have been excited to purchase thus far.

The only song I heard (Once) was Mary Mary and I wasn't thrilled as of yet.? I know that this cd was put together with everyong in studio at the same time compared to Contraband.? I've heard that Slash really sounds good on Libertad and that he has played the way he wanted compared to they way he was "supposed" to play.? He has done a lot of stuff outside of VR also.? He has maybe put an arms length away from VR so he is free to branch out? Or doing so to create? more of a memory catalog for the bands future?? I now see Slash as the controling member of VR.? This is through different articles and interviews that I have read or heard.? He seems to think that Libertad is different from what fans and critics were to expect.? He said he was happy with the music.? I don't recall him commenting on the lyrics though.? I could be wrong.? I'll wait for the cd to make my own opinion overall.? Just like Axl is GnR, Slash is without a doubt VR.? Slash=Slash.? Where ever and who ever he plays for or with will be better.

GN'R have specifically asked not to discuss the album.

VR are yet to issue such a  statement.

Wrong, The band and their managment did request that.

I was gonna hold out till the official release but since its available for streaming I thought why not. At first I wasnt that impressed (same with Contraband which I now love). Now ive had a second listen its all starting to make sense to me and I will definitly be in love with this album after a few more listens.

Standouts for me are Just Sixteen, Let It Roll, SBQM, Pills Demons etc, She mine and Get out the door

Erm... IMO, Paul?s last album, "Memory Almost Full" is fuckings leads ahead of Libertad (silly mandolin single aside). The guy?s 65 and he probably farted the album out, but MAF is 10 times more inventive, melodic and confident than Libertad.  Libertad is too bland - or maybe rather too "meh"... VR is still WAY less than the sum of its parts.

Just 16 - Another catchy chorus (at least melody wise), but the vocals don't fit the song at all.   The riff is nice, as is the solo.  This one could have been a great song with better vocals and lyrics.  6/10

Let me clarify that its only the melody in the chrous that is catchy.   Scott mumbling that stupid shit totally kills what could be a kickass song.   The music is great.
