Does this mean they're planning on releasing "Better" as a single VERY soon, so that advertise was supposed to be released after the single release?
speculation...

Well than im sure no one that comes to this board will ever hear about it, and I'm sure us gnr fans dont want to discuss advertisements, that according to the band, get leaked i guess. ?Or the fact a song was put there that apeared to be in studio quality. Oh nobody will ever discuss that if we ask jarmo to take it down. Nobody will find out about it if we ask jarmo to take it down. This is whole thing is fucking retard, and funny. I'm more pissed at managment being stupid enough to ask, than jarmo listening. ?:smoking:

Anybody else getting a bit concerned?? First RS, now ?? Two credible sources just happen to post things "too early"?? Maybe they arent early, something is wrong and they dont want all this promotion and then album get delayed.

This is really getting strange, AND stupid. Why would they care they we hear a 30 second clip of a song we have already heard the leaked version of?? Think about it.

I guess GNR needs jarmo to run and youtube.com as well.? :hihi:

I'm sure nobody is posting things too early. This is what GNR wants.

Title: Re: looks like ads are not allowed now either

That's really fucking lame. What forum can we go to and read about this thing. A new song shows up in an add(that's what the title of the thread suggets but I can't read it) And it's treated like a damn plague. ARE WE EVEN GONNA BE ALLOWED TO DISCUSS THE ALBUM WHEN IT COMES OUT!!?? Either management are just being complete idiots and have a lot of nerve to ask Jarmo to remove these things or they are trying to avoid a huge shit storm because the album isn't coming out and they don't want any promo whatsoever.  There's no communication with the fans at this point and it's a huge fucking slap in the face to the people who have supported this band for so long. Anyone who says otherwise is a damn minion of the band and has no ability to see things with perspective.

This is pretty much bullshit Jarmo. managemnet seems to be taking huge advantage of you at the moment. It's damnaging the credibility of this site as a front runner for legit Gn'R news. Who gives a damn if the add leaked "too early" or the album leaks. It's breaking Gn'R news one way or the other. It's happend , it's done and ?It's asinine for managemnt to ask that we not discuss leaks or lyrics to new songs or adds that ran "too early" or anything else like that. Not posting links is acceptable but saying what we can and can't discuss is way over the line and pretty insulting to the fans. ?Are the benifits recievd from being tight with management even worth this crap? I don't know what all the perks are but I know the presales aren't worth this.

He shouldn't have too, because he should have never asked for it not be discussed. Like Bono said, not posting links is one thing, not allowing discussion is a whole different ball game. If it comes too early we wont be able to discuss the album? Wow. That fucking sucks. ?:smoking:

will not take this add down, I promise you that. And I dont believe it leaked "early", I think something else is going on. What, I dont really know, but something is up. I dont see why they would care about a 30 second commercial clip that we have already heard the leaked song of. Had this been a "new" unheard GNR song, then maybe I could understand, but anyone thats a GNR fan has most likely heard Better, so I dont see the problem.

With all the recent events and the tour starting in a few days, it's kinda obvious something's going on.

That's good news.

Just be patient and I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk about when the time is right.

Who gives a damn if the add leaked "too early" or the album leaks.

I do, since I believe the artist has the right to decide when the listeners can listen to their material.

If the band plays new songs live in concert, we can talk about them. If the whole album leaks, we'll make sure not to talk about them until they're legally available for purchase. That's my personal opinion.

It's definately a better mix of the song (obviously the final) and there's certainly a little different guitar work in that final verse.

Maybe we're not meant to hear that stuff yet.

what changed your mind since the demos leaked?? I dont see how its any different than that. Discussions about leaked material has been going on for years, and now all of sudden you cant do it. It just sux is all. Im not trying to take a shot, just trying to vent the frustraion of it, you can see that right? why we would be flustered? I may have been posting here for years, but i have visted here for many years and i like your site. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and wait it out a little long and now try to hold back my flustration towards you, but as of right now the management of that band can kiss my ass. ?:smoking:

Title: Re: looks like ads are not allowed now either
Post by: jarmo on October 20, 2006, 12:57:09 PM
Well, personally i think the leaks happened when there was nothing going on and the songs weren't finished album tracks.

Now if the album, or parts of it leak, it's a different situation.

It would mean something meant to be sold had leaked. That's different.

That's why I think talking about live tracks is fine.

Maybe management thinks HTGTH is the only GNR forum in the world? I check that you can found links to Commercial in chinesedemocarcy.com, newgnr.com, talkingmetal.com, blabbermouth, ant these are the only four i've visited. What happens with HTGTH? It was the best GNR forum 'til Rolling Stone affair, but, now....... hmmmmmmmm, well.

Probably that the band leaked them and wanted us to talk about them, as it is pretty obvious at this point with the death grip they have on information control around here that if they didn't want us hearing them, Jarmo would have put a stop to it.

Jarmo, it is about time you tell Merck to stop taking his ineptitude as a manager out on you. If he can't control the companies and media sources that he is making deals with, he should not be asking you to face the firing squad when it is his fault all this stuff is leaking early. You should let him know that it is his, and not your responsibility to deal with information control issues.

I think we should all just lay off Jarmo here...he's doing what GN'R are requesting him to do and Jarmo is being respectful and complying with their wishes.  We should be honored to be members of this board where GN'R puts their faith and trust in our administrator...methinks, perhaps, (and I'm just cannon-balling here) but maybe in the near future a couple of things maybe removed from this message board...just off the top of my head, I'd say the letters "u" and "n"...if you dig what I'm saying...but, entirely speculation. ;)

I think that all of this is getting way out of hand here. Not allowing leaks, I can understand, even though I know nobody who'd come across a possible leak and say "No, I'm not downloading it, it's not right!".

Not allowing discussion on a published piece of writing is something I try to understand, I sort of try to convince myself thinking that it's all unconfirmed so it'd better not be reproduced again and again. But what I most certainly don't get is getting banned or having a comment deleted for commenting on the tv commercial. And the reason I don't get it is because it's official. It's on the official Harley Davidson site, and the company itself mentions "See it. Hear it. Now. Watch the TV commercial featuring the new, exclusive, unreleased Guns N Roses song "Better" from the forthcoming album Chinese Democracy".

I can't really tell if it's too early as I have no information whatsoever concerning the aggreement between GunsN Roses and Harley Davidson. And really, I don't care. It's just a commercial, I won't kill myself over it or watch it more than twice. I'm trying to be polite because polite is what I wanna be. But this is all too frantic. It seems to me that what applies in all successful adventure films, applies here as well: it takes a good cop and a bad cop as well to get the story going.

Am I entitled to my own opinion? You bet.
Are you entitled to delete my posts? Surely.
Life goes on.. and the album's out soon ))

What's going on here lately? Why is this site trying to hide news articles from other news sources from being talked about? To me if its a fact its a fact. News should be reported on the basis of truth not what is best for keeping secrets, with allegiances to certain camps. Dont get me wrong I am as big of a GnR fan as there is but ....What ever happened to freedom of speech and expression....I know a certain band that was all for that.

Can we discuss the paradise city ad that released to tv on october 8th, according to talkingmetal.com And how the new one is supose to come out late October?  :smoking:
Jarmo said to not discuss any brands that have anything to do with leaked TV adds, and I know this isn't "leaked" but I think you get the point.  :)

Wouldn't blame the band... it's Merck, not Axl.

I shouldn't find it funny, but it really is.

Not in the GN'R section. Get it? Because, it's actually quite simple....

If you feel like talking about motorcycles (without mentioning any GN'R references), I'm sure you know where you can do it.

I think its a question of how you got it.

I know for a fact that in some countries albums are released before the US.

/jarmo

The one record store by my house is only open on friday, saturday and sunday.. so they break the street date with all their new releases (as long as they have them in) and sell them on the friday before the day it comes out.

I have a feeling tho that no record store will be getting the album before monday night though anyway.  I thought I'd just ask so I know in the future, if I can get it early.

people should stop moaning, I don't agree with Jarmo on this actually I think it's bullshit.
but I respect his opnion, I run a pretty big forum myself and we recently had the same problem when the Grudge 2 trailer leaked that's why I respect his opinion....If you really feel the need to discuss it just go to mygnr or some other site.

I think this ia a fair question, though more than likely its gonna be deleted.
Why does this board oppress its members so badly?
Its a shame that everyone has to go to another forum to talk about the latest news.

It's interesting that the ad is still up on harley davidson's official website. Wouldn't it make more sense for Merck to be onto them instead of Jarmo.

I think this is likely to be beginning of the end of the HTGTH. The reason is that the album will leak early, most likely during the duplication phase. If the new songs can't be discussed here, then HTGTH will miss out on the most imporant event of GnR's history in the internet era. Them few days in between the leak and the release could be crucial and people will go elsewhere. It will still be a popular site but I think it could lose its status as the most popular, which is a shame.

Jarmo made a good point, i thought, in saying that he wont allow discussion of the material untill it is offcially realeased, which is what the band wants. He also stated nothing was going on back in febuary so that was different. And i aggree with him when he says that. Discussion of live songs is ok and discussion any new leaked material is not ok. With all thats going on and what looks like a single to be released soon and all signs pointing towards the albums release this year, I can live with that.  :smoking:

My guess is Harley has rights to use the song, and in the contract it is not to be "aired" or televised before a given date. However, there is a loophole because nothing is stated relating to a date for posting the ad online. Merck & GnR really don't have a case regarding pulling the spot from the website since contractually they have the rights to do so with the song.

I would hope not, this is nothing but good publicity for the band. ?Pulling things now is just going to anger people and make the band look flakey. ?This can do nothing but generate more interest in the new so I can't see how it would make any sense to turn back now.

No, by "it" I meant if anybody wanted to start talking about motorcycles they could talk about in The Jungle.? I was just clarifying because you said before we weren't allowed to talk about any brand that puts out ads or articles too soon, and I thought it was a step too far.? But then you explained when asked that you only meant in the Guns N' Roses section, which is obvious. ::)? It only takes a certain amount of common fucking sense to figure that out.? I've heard (not sure how true it is) that Merck is attempting to shut Sp!at and MyGNR down over this.
If it is true, it's obvious he's got jarmo over a barrel.  I don't know what Merck's hoping to achieve with all this, but if it's to piss what fans the band have left off, he's doing an incredible job.

Where did you hear that from? Was it from those sites mentioned. Sonds like an exageration by whoever you heard it from to make said sites sound like sites "of the people for the people". ::)

From a couple of people who post on there and here.
I'm not gonna name names, because they may be accused of starting bullshit if it's not true, so I'm willing to take the flack for them unless they tell me otherwise.  Because, in all honesty it most likely is bullshit, but at this point I wouldn't rule it out.
Yeah, right. I'm a mod at MYGNR and I can confirm that that's complete bullshit.

So you can go right ahead and rule that out. :peace:

Evidently it must've been a sort of surprise... I assume the way it was going to work was get everyone used to hearing Paradise City on the commercial for a few weeks, and then suddenly change the music. ?But Harley Davidson putting the commercial on their site ruined that surprise, and Merck went into damage control mode. ?Damage control isn't going to work this way... putting a clause in the contract to stop Harley Davidson from doing that in the first place would have been better. ?But unfortunately, it looks like it's got to happen this way.

Am I angry? ?Sure, as are a lot of people... but I've resigned to the fact now.
