Supergrass and Franz Ferdinand
«
on:
July 29, 2005, 12:11:21 AM »
I've heared those bands on some huge festival from England.
Supergrass - I've been looking for the song ALRIGHT for like 7 years(or maybe five), while I didn't know the title or the band. It's amazing for me and I'm so glad to have it now. What do You think about that band? Is it like one hit band or they did some other great songs?
FF - same here, when I've heared TAKE ME OUT first time, I started to believe in rock again! What are they albums like?

Supergrass has one song worth a listen and it's the one you mentioned.
Last year I loved Franz and thought they were briliant. Now I'm abit sick of them. There album was great last year but now I've gone off it. But if you like Take Me Out, you'll like the album.

Yeah, the luck is very ups and downs here. Even Velvet Revolver has canceled thier gig. But Pearl Jam did two shows and they were two live albums from it, which I've heared are great.... Crazy, I tell You!
But, come on, the whole world is rock'n'rolled by England!!
Cheers

exacly. I have their album and I like it.
but they're the only art school rock band I like, I usually hate that stuff.
btw, I don't agree that the best bands come from England.
most my fav bands are American.

hehe, yea, we're all Guns N; Roses fans, aren't we?
But the hitory of music says it all: The Rolling Stones, Queen, The Who, Led Zeppelin, to name only few.
What's art school rock?
So guys, which one's better Franz or Grass?

in your opinion...the best bands are either Irish or Scottish then American then English imo...England has far too many depressive indie bands

sometimes i think these subgenres are just made up for pretentiousness
Franz is superior, they have a unique sound, Supergrass are not unique but ive heard that Supergrass are fantastic in concert from several people..Ive seen FF in concert and id recommend them too

I was speaking on behalf of myself, and none of those bands are really among my fav bands...well, maybe except Zeppelin!

The US has also produced Stevie Wonder (the old stuff rocks in its own way) Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, oh and a certain King of RNR Elvis Fucking Presley.
Also, Kiss, Skynerd, Iggy Pop, Beach Boys, Black Crowes, Metallica, Soundgarden, etc.
We were not responsible for the Scorpions!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love ELIVIS !!!!!!!!!!!!
Also FRANK SINATRA !!!!!!!!!
And the killer himselfe:
JERRY LEE LEWIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But still I think that UK rules. In UK there's always something new happening and in America teh most of the famous bands are just stars but they didn't brought anything new into music(I'm not saying, that that's a rule).
Besides, don't compare Nirvana to The Who, please.

Actualy, we started with the word "rule" not "famous". Nirvana is maybe more famous then the Who, but in my opinion they didn't gave music that much, plus they didn't have Keith Moon.
BTW, because this discussion went wider then the topic says, do You know if there's any source to download drum solos?? I'm looking for any solo by Simon Philips(wild, crazy guy!).
Cheers

www.drummerworld.com
Im not sure if you can download them, but you can watch a lot of them there.

I think Supergrass and Franz are alright. Preffer the Early Supergrass stuff. Their 'I should Coco' album has some good rocking tunes on it. Nothing mind blowing, but i'd rather have these guys around than not you know?
Franz way over hyped but again they are making new music and that's a good thing.
