Title: Iraq 'n' roll

Soldiers take on insurgents with a musical vengeance, cranking up the volume to distress the enemy. The choice of tunes might surprise.

I'm not posting this to instigate a debate about the war itself, but just thought this article was neat and necessary for this section/board.  : ok:

Yeah, I had heard about the prisoners, but it's cool that they're now using this music to go into battle (I mean, if they have to go into battle in the first place).

Quote
"Uncooperative prisoners are being exposed for prolonged periods to music from children's TV programmes Sesame Street and Barney in the hope of making them talk," the BBC reported in May 2003. "However, Amnesty International said such tactics may constitute torture."

too true.

interesting story though

I can't think of anything more annoying for our own troops - that would piss me off. If i'm being shot at or expecting to shot someone the least someone can give me is as much quiet as possible so i can concentrate - how many of our guys waled into ambuses that they would have noticed if they hadn't had Metallica ringing in their ears???
