If this was asked from me a year ago, I would've said Les Paul instantly. Now that I've played for about 2 years, it's pretty even between that and the Fender.

I do think Les Pauls are the prettiest of all. But when you go for versatility..

But those aren't my no1 choises if I was to buy a guitar.. both are pretty overpriced to my taste.

What Skeba said.

Gibson and Fender both suck.

Agile all the way!!

definetly les paul style guitars, but not necessarily gibsons.

les paul copies and replicas all the way!

i've never really liked the strat style, like one day i may buy one. but something i've always wanted is a telecaster. something about them just makes me want to buy one and make all this noise ala dazed and confused. smoking

Gibson Les Paul. But not by a big margin.

It gives the sound a real dirty rock vibe and i love that.

I've played a Fender American Stratocaster for about 15 years (well, I started with a knock off, but you get the picture).  I learned on a Fender.  I've played a very, very little with Les Pauls.  I LOVE the sound from them, but playing them is just not comfortable for me (most likely for the reasons mentioned above).  So, with that, I'm going to go with Fender, based purely on selfishness.

I have a '57 Strat replica, and I love it.  I really want to get a Les Paul, and I like the feel of Les Pauls, but I generally tend to prefer the sound of strats a little more.  My playing usually isn't the "down and dirty" Gn'R style.

I really love both of them just as much, like Skeba, if you asked me not more than a year ago, I would have said Les Paul, but they are even to me now.
I almost bought a Strat in June, but I got a great deal on a Gretsch Malcolm Young sig guitar and bought it instead. and this guitar has got the greatest sounding humbuckers Ive ever played for sure!! Gretsch is owned by Fender now, so maybe I should like them better than Gibson?.....hmmmm...naah.

well, I like to play the Strat more than the Les Paul, but they are so different, totally different sound, I like both a lot. but since the Strat is more comfortable to play for me Im gonna for for it! STRATOCASTER!! ok
