Bowie did excellent music between 1971 and 1983, after that he has done a couple of albums that I really enjoy, e.g. Heathen.

top male rocker?

hes a good artist, but in rocker terms for the 70s id be more inclined to give that to bon scott, since he practically died at the end of it all in early 1980.

In his 'hometown' of Perth they are planning to build him a proper menorial statue. Alot of musos from the era are behind it - people kept on visiting his grave and taking away pieces of the headstone!
