On the It's so easy/ Mr Brownstone single, which if I believe correctly was their first single and was only released on vinyl.

You can check the 'releases' section on the HTGTH website.

"Shadow Of Your Love" was a b-side to "Live And Let Die."

There should be a few other b-side and throwaway songs available on the Internet.? Off the top of my head:

Shadow Of Your Love
Bring It Back Home
Sentimental Movie
Cornshucker/Cornchucker
Ain't Goin' Down
Just Another Sunday
Crash Diet

Jarmo, do you have a page for those?

They're mentioned here and there on the site.

I might as well list the unreleased ones on the Releases/Lyrics page.  : ok:

I have a live album (I guess its an import?) called Lies And Dollars, which was recorded at that show at the Ritz where the Knockin' On Heaven's Door video was filmed.  The last song on it is Shadow Of Your Love.  I wonder if that's the version you found on the internet.  Does anybody know anything else about this album?

There are about 5 or so versions of Shadow of your love out there. 2 or 3 are demos and 2 or 3 are live.

Unlike the other songs mentioned, Shadow of your Love is an officially released track.
It just never appeared on any of the albums.
I thought they released a live version and a studio version on different 12" singles, but I could be wrong. The studio version being the one where Axl says "Wake Up..it's time to play" at the beginning of it.
Great raw song that really fit the early GnR attitude.

And of course there's the Hollywood Rose version which was officially released last year.

I think these are the official released versions:
1. Hollywood Rose Demo
2. B-side of It's So Easy 12" (from Live Like A Suicide sessions)
3. B-side of Live And Let Die (with wake up.. time to play) Faster version, I guess it's recorded during AFD sessions.

ah right

gotcha

i thought the "wake up..." vers was hollywood rose because the quality isnt that great (but my vers was probably burnt onto cd a a low bitrate)

I've been listening to this song a lot lately - I love it! One of my fav. GN'R songs.

Can't say that I would mind if they busted this one out again!

No way, Shadow by a long shot.  Just Another Sunday sounds very experimental...perhaps the song could have became something but the demo does it no justice.

A song I would have liked to have seen worked on and tweaked musically and lyrically was "Sentimental Movie".....I think it could have been a kickass little diddy.

I believe it's Duff and Slash sharing lead vocals on the song.  No Axl, but still a catchy tune.  The lyrics get a little goofy at times, but definitely could have been a nice filler track with a little work.

Heres a list from wikipedia of all the unreleased GNR songs(ChiDem exluded :hihi:)

    * Bring It Back Home is a song that was recorded during the Use Your Illusion sessions at Rumbo Recorders in Los Angeles, CA.

    * Crash Diet is a song that was recorded during the G N' R Lies sessions at Rumbo Recorders in Los Angeles, CA.

    * Goodnight Tonight is a song that is known only to have been performed once in 1986 at The Roxy.

    * Just Another Sunday is a song that was recorded during the Use Your Illusion sessions at Rumbo Recorders in Los Angeles, CA.

    * Heartbreak Hotel is a Thomas Durden and Mae Boren Axton song, popularized by Elvis Presley, which was recorded by Guns N' Roses during the years leading up to the recording of Appetite for Destruction. The band played the song live a handful of times during 1986. Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin also played Heartbreak Hotel live at the 1988 MTV Video Music Awards with Tom Petty.

    * Jumpin' Jack Flash is a Rolling Stones song recorded by Guns N' Roses during the years leading up to and including the recording of Appetite for Destruction. It was recorded a few different times in different incarnations; a slow electric and acoustic version are available in the bootlegging community.

    * Sentimental Movie is a song that was recorded during the Use Your Illusion sessions at Rumbo Recorders in Los Angeles, CA. It features bassist Duff McKagan on lead vocals.

    * Ain't Goin' Down was a song that was used in the Guns N' Roses pinball machine. A full-length studio version can be found on various GN'R fansites. It was played live once in 1986 at the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles.

    * Too Much Too Soon was also recorded during the UYI sessions.

    * Cornshucker (sometimes called Cornchucker) was written by bassist Duff McKagan and was performed live once. An acoustic version was recorded during the sessions for G N' R Lies. It was considered too obscene to put on the album.

    * It Tastes Good, Don't It? was written by the band during a tour with Iron Maiden. On a bootlegged version of the song, Axl Rose states that they wrote it in an attempt to be kicked off the tour. During the band's early days, they would perform the song live, however, during the Use Your Illusion Tour, Rose would sometimes sing the first verse in the middle of the song Rocket Queen. This can be heard on the second half of the band's Live In Tokyo video.

Shadow Of Your Love [It's So Easy 12"]
Shadow Of Your Love [Live And Let Die single]

I never knew Shadow Of Your Love appeared as b-side track. I thought Shadow Of Your Love was simply some very old leaks, like Crash Diet for example. I have 2 version's that appeared on 2 bootleg cd's and the version's that appeared on The Roots of Guns N' Roses. I've never compared them, although of the 2 bootleg versions, one could have been cleaned up for The Roots of Guns N' Roses.

Very impressive list!  But quite a gap between 1998 and 2006, lol.  I'm sure there were quite a few recorded during that period and unless you happened to be in the studio during that time, it's virtually impossible to know exactly.

Um...

Shadow Of Your Love dates back to at least 1983.

It was officially released a demo w/a overdubbed crowd on various singles in 1987 and a studio version was released as the b-side to Live and Let Die in 1991.

It's not exactly new..

It's an overdub. I'm 100% sure of it. Play the demo version (I forget which one it is - there's 2 of them) and then play that version right after it. They're identical. The crowd noise is also "generic" like in the rest of the LLAS tracks.

Yeah - it's a misconception that it's live, since all of the songs on the Live From the Jungle EP are all listed as being from the Marquee. But only It's So Easy, KOHD, and Whole Lotta Rosie are.

Shadow Of Your Love and Move To the City are from the LLAS sessions. Remember - Lies wasn't out yet at that time, so MTTC wasn't as widely heard yet.

How are they pre-AFD demos? The only proper session they had before AFD was to record the LLAS tracks, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Heartbreak Hotel, Shadow Of Your Love, Don't Cry and very early versions of the Appetite songs. I'm fairly certain that they're UYI outtakes.

SLASH DID NOT SING SENTIMENTAL MOVIE.

Any good GnR fan knows that.  Listen to the voice.  It's CLEARLY Duff McKagan.

The linear notes in the CD that it's widely associated with (I own it) is WRONG.

Also, on the same CD, it says Slash sings a live version of It's So Easy.  Which is also untrue.  Slash did NOT sing.

Also, the guitarist on Sentimental Movie is also NOT Slash.  It's played by West Arkeen or Chris Webber.  I can't actually remember as it's been a while since I had that info, but I am telling you now... it's NOT Slash.

So many GnR fans have the wrong info because some of this shit is written into stupid bootleg CD's that are simply wrong.

You're wrong.  Slash didn't even play guitar on it.  I read a Duff interview that confirmed what I was suspicious of.  Hell, that is blatantly not Slash's style.  Any GnR fan worth shit knows that.

Ok ...

well, here's a question from Snakepit.org... Slash answers this one personally...

Olivier in Canada writes:
"Do you remember that demo song you did with GNR called "Sentimental Movie"? Any chance of seeing SLASH's Snakepit playing that song one day, live or in the studio? I think the solos on it were just incredible.

SLASH REPLY:
"I didn't have anything to do with "Sentimental Movie". Axl and West Arkeen plus maybe Izzy recorded that one night when we were all hanging out at "Hell House". That's a house we all used to squat at. I can't remember if I put a solo on it or not. But, no, Snakepit will never play that song. I don't even remember how it went it was so long ago."

Ok... so, coupled with the fact that Slash says he didn't have anything to do with it, and can't remember playing on it ... AND the fact that I saw Duff say that Slash didn't play on it ... I think that's solid enough.  :)

Its also on a Japanese live EP, that was released on CD, but personally I think its a dreadful song. Axl was asked about it during a radio show by a fan in 1990, and the response he gave was far from flattering as far as I remember

Shadow of your love - I remember this, was a good track years ago but shite today.  Should have been on the Lies EP but guess not.  Whole Lotta Rosie was another B-Side if I remember rightly, ah those were the days!

This is something I've put together over the years and it'll give you an idea of what's been recorded over the years:

Down On The Street (The Stooges cover, recorded for "The Spaghetti Incident?") [unreleased]

/jarmo

Could anyone post a link to  Down On the Street?  i had no idea they covered this

On the It's so easy/ Mr Brownstone single, which if I believe correctly was their first single and was only released on vinyl.

You can check the 'releases' section on the HTGTH website.

I have Mr. Brownstone on a Tape single still sealed.

   * Just Another Sunday is a song that was recorded during the Use Your Illusion sessions at Rumbo Recorders in Los Angeles, CA.

Wrong. Those are all Pre-AFD era demos.

The only known proper session was the LLAS one. We don't know every lil' session that they did. And, got the info from John M n' a few others.
