This might have been mentioned before, I'm not sure. If it has, I couldn't find it. At what show in 1992 did Axl perform with U2? Is their any footage available? What songs did they sing? Did Axl ever consider touring with U2? I always thought a GNR/U2 tour would have been awesome. Much better than the GNR/Metallica fiasco. If Axl comes back while U2 is still touring for 'Atomic Bomb', they should consider a co-headlining tour.

While I love the idea of a co-headlining tour with a talented, reliable and established band, I can't see U2 doing this.  Honestly, other than small bands that need the exposure, nobody will want to share a tour with our unpredictable front-man.

Yeah, I remember a while back people mentioning Axl performed One with Bono in '92.  I did a half-ass search and didn't come up with anything.  I'd friggin love to hear that...or anything else they did together.  Any help out there?   Huh

They did 'Heavens Door' together,? that's the only one i was aware of.

As for your suggestion, yeah great idea.? But Axl's reputation follows him and U2 have the opposite way of thinking.? They love the Touring and would only cancel a show in extreme circumstance.? For the sake of their - whatever friendship they have, it's probably wise not to do it.

Would be a great show though!.  Maybe a short Tour lol.

Im pretty sure they did KOHD and apparently there is footage flaoting around

as for GNR "co-headlining" with U2? Maybe back in 92, but GNR dont pack the clout to co-headline with the likes of U2 straight out of the bat.
If CD is an enormous success, perhaps, but I think the audiences are pretty different by and large

I saw a pic of that show a few days ago but can't find it. Axl was wearing jeans and a white shirt.

The show was May 24th 1992 in Viena at the Donau Insel stadium. I got that info from this site!? yes

As for co-headlining a tour with U2, well, right now GNR will be lucky to open for U2 if anything. U2 is way bigger than GNR these days so I don't think U2 would even consider it. Once Cd is released, and sells 10 million copies, it may then be a possibility.

Yeah, obviously GNR isn't what it was in 92, but it might just work. Obviously Axl would have to straighten up for the tour to work. You're right, it would have to be a small tour. They could do a mini tour to see how it worked. Do like 5 shows all over the world like in LA,NY, Chicago, Paris, and Tokyo. Maybe have one on PPV or something. Hitching the GNR train to U2 would give each band even more exposure.

There's an audio version of the song, but the sound quality is quite poor.

Why was this dead horsed? If this is a dead horse, then everything is a dead horse. I've been on this board for a year, and surfed it years before that, and I dont remember discussions about Axl and U2. By the way, there is more pics of U2 and Axl. Someone who knows how to put pics in threads , PM me your email address and I'll send the pics.

yeah they deffinately did KOHD, i've got an mp3 of it. Bono says the song was "written for this man and his band". but the performance wasn't very good in my oppinion! U2 played it too fast and Bono's singing on it isn't too good - but Axl is great, does his usual 'hey, hey, hey, hey yeah' thing!
I didn't know they did 'one' as well, man i would love to hear that - one of my favourite songs of all time!

Axl and Bono never performed One together. Axl once sang a few lines from One though (as an intro to Sweet Child), it was at Slane Castle (Ireland) on the 1992 European tour, but U2 was not there. The only song they ever played together was KOHD. The only videos of it are audience shots, not widely circulated.

Oh, and there's no way in hell U2 will ever tour with GN'R. Like someone else said, they have VERY different views of touring and their approach to their fans is EXTREMELY different as well. Bono played a gig the day after his dad funeral (2001). GN'R cancelled a whole tour for no apparent reason in 2002 (and no official explanation was ever given) and cancelled twice a whole European tour in 2001, at first for "illness" and then Axl said he never knew about the tours. U2 has released a show on DVD (Slane Castle) after their fans have made a petition for it. GN'R never released a complete gig on one DVD, Geffen forced them to release Tokyo 92 on two separate DVDs with no 5.1 sound, which is fairly uncommon nowadays. Just a few examples, but there are many, the bands really have different views. Both are great and awesome in concert but they will not tour together, unless one of them changes (a lot).
