How's that for provocation?

Hey folks,

I just recorded a cover of maddy for a bit of fun.

Anyways...while in the process i noticed it has some unusual kinda sounding guitar thingie going on...in the leadish part during the chorus....hope u know the bit I mean...its something kinda like

-----------------------|--------------------|-----------------------|
-------------12br----|--10---------------|-------------12br----|
-----------------------|--------------------|-----------------------|
-----------------------|--------------------|-----------------------|
-----------------------|--------------------|-----------------------|
-----------------------|--------------------|-----------------------|

--------------------10b--|-------15--------------------|--------------------|
--10------------10-------|-----------12b-------12br----|--12----------------|
-------------------------|-----------------------------|--------------------|
-------------------------|-----------------------------|--------------------|
-------------------------|-----------------------------|--------------------|
-------------------------|-----------------------------|--------------------|

--------------------------|--------------------|
------------------12br----|--10----------------|
--------------12----------|--------------------|
--------------------------|--------------------|
--------------------------|--------------------|
--------------------------|--------------------|

(or thats what the tab i have says anyway LOL)

Anyway...getting to the point....i'm confused who plays this part...it says its Robin in the tab, but i have some live vids where it looks like Richard is doing it, or part of it....but then i have a 2002 vid where it sounds like the tone of bucket's set up too...so i'm totally lost.....

Anyway...so those in the know could you please share with me:

(a) Who plays that part live?
(b) The last note has such incredible sustain on some versions and has a kinda high shrill thing going...it sounds awesome!! Is it

1. Richard/Robin complimenting each other with octives or something
2. Some kind of awesome vibratto into a harmonic techinue that i cant do
3. Some kind of massive sustain pedal or something
4. All of the above or something else....

Thanks for any help folks - its been bugging me for ages now!

Ok, let's see:

(a) - Richard Fortus. This tab is old and wrong (in RIR3 was Paul Tobias who played a weaker version of the riff).

(b) - Richard uses a Fernandes Sustainer guitar (you can buy just the pickup and install in your guitar). You can learn more about it here:

http://www.fernandesguitars.com/sustainer.html

Here is the guitar Richard currently uses to play it (he used a different one in 2002):

Yeah, i actually asked Fortus in an email about what he uses on madagascar, and he told me he has that sustain fernandes guitar and that he also uses an octave divider on madagascar. if you can find my post of his email, it should help you out alot.

Just that chorus riff.

i dont think there is an official maddy solo. BH had the best one, but so far, the leads havent blown me away for that songs solo
